The *Portes Mordelaises* (Mordelaise Gates) are a site often overlooked by tourists, as they are tucked away within the city's historic center. Now is the perfect time to discover them, as Rennes has undertaken a project to highlight these gates through renovation and the addition of various visitor amenities—such as a scenic walking path and a designated tourist route. You can also view the numerous stone steles bearing Roman inscriptions—originally repurposed as structural foundations—at the Museum of Brittany, also located in Rennes.Afterward, if you have a taste for local products, pay a visit to the *Marché de la Place des Lices* (Place des Lices Market)—the second-largest market in France. Over 300 local producers regularly gather there to sell their wares. Take the opportunity to sample famous regional treats like *galettes-saucisses* (sausage-filled buckwheat crepes) and *kouign-amann*, as well as lesser-known specialties such as the *parlementin*—a pastry that truly pays homage to the region with its blend of cider, apples, almonds, and, of course, salted butter.
