This World Heritage-listed natural wonderland sits right on Sydney’s doorstep. You can traverse these conveniently located mountains whether you’re driving luxury vehicles, electric vehicles, or a full-size SUV, and discover secluded waterfalls, ancient caves, Indigenous history, and the famous Three Sisters range along your route.
Bliss-out in the gardens, parks, antique stores, and wineries that pepper the historic townships within the Southern Highlands. Sydney Airport, aka Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, is situated unusually close to the CBD. While this means some suburbs sit under a noisy flight path and planes can’t ground during certain hours overnight, it’s also very convenient for travelling to and from both the domestic and international terminals.
You can jump into a car or onto a train from the arrivals hall and arrive in Sydney CBD or the surrounding suburbs in about 20 minutes. It’s also well situated for heading beyond the city limits if you’re keen to start your holiday with a road trip.
Yes, you can take a flight from Sydney domestic terminal to Kingscote on Kangaroo Island in just over four hours. If you’re keen on a cross-country drive, you can also reach this pristine spot via car by booking a place for your vehicle on the ferry. The smaller urban centres of Wollongong and Newcastle flank Sydney to the south and north respectively, and can each be reached within a few hours’ drive. You can drive to the bustling tourist and surfing hotspot Manly Beach in around 30 minutes from the Sydney CBD.
