At Pensacola International Airport (PNS), pickup is permitted from Parking Lots 1, 2, and 3, and the Surface Lot. Be sure to only grab your rental car from one of these locations, as curbside pickup or collection from the Short Term lot and Parking Garage are not allowed!
Before you jet into Pensacola International Airport, chat with your host on the Turo app to confirm where they'll leave the car rental for you to collect. Grab the vehicle keys from a secure, agreed-upon drop box, then use the parking ticket they've left in the vehicle to exit the lot.
Turo is required to collect and remit a fee to Pensacola International Airport (PNS) to facilitate pickup and drop-off of rental cars – this is always included in the total cost of your booking. As for parking fees, Turo hosts are required to disclose these charges in the vehicle listing to ensure there are no surprises.

Contactless check-in and checkout
Many hosts offer contactless check-in and checkout, if their car has remote access technology, allowing you to find the car, unlock it, and be on your way without meeting them in person. Message your host for specific instructions.

Convenient airport car rental pickup and return
Rather than hustling at the busy terminal curbside, take your time picking up the rental car at approved parking lots or garages. Check in, load up your luggage, and get comfortable with the car without a big rush.

Relax with support & damage protection
24/7 support and roadside assistance mean help is just a call away, plus you can choose from a range of protection plans.

For a mix of heritage and scenic views, take a trip to the Pensacola Lighthouse & Maritime Museum, which was built in 1859 and stands on the site of the Pensacola Naval Air Station. To start your visit, climb the 177 steps up to the top of the lighthouse to take in the incredible vistas of the Gulf Coast that a vantage point of this height promises. Then, explore the adjoining Maritime Museum, which features a range of exhibits on everything from lighthouse illumination to Pensacola's industrial history.
If soft white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water are calling your name, you'll want to park up at Pensacola Beach, a many-mile long stretch on Santa Rosa Island. It's a haven for adventurers and relaxed holidaymakers alike; the perfect spot for swimming, paddle-boarding, and learning how to surf on gentle waves. If you don't want to spend the whole day under the sun, head to one of the shops or restaurants along the boardwalk for a short reprieve before heading back out for more activities like fishing and jet-boating.
The Historic Pensacola Village is an 8.5-acre section of downtown Pensacola comprised of over 30 properties of yesteryear built in varying architectural styles. A prominent feature of the Historic Village is its museum complex, which encompasses seven different museums, including the Pensacola Children's Museum and the Pensacola Museum of Art – so if you like absorbing local history, plan for at least a full day of exploration! Many visitors choose to take a guided tour, complete with reenactments, to fully enjoy the immersive feel of the area and learn more about Pensacola from the experts.
Pensacola's coastal vibe and small population make it a pretty serene place to drive, but there are still things to be aware of before you get behind the wheel – especially if you're headed here in tourist season! These top tips will help you navigate the Pensacola area with ease and enjoy every minute you spend on the vast Floridian roads.
You can pick up your PNS car rental from one of four approved locations: Parking Lots 1, 2, or 3, or the Surface Lot. Speak with your host using the Turo app before you leave your point of origin so there's no confusion or delays when the time comes to collect your car. They'll leave the keys in a secure drop box for you and a parking ticket in the vehicle so you can safely exit and be well on your way to exploring Pensacola.
Once you've thoroughly discovered the beauty of Florida and it's time to fly back out of Pensacola Intl Airport, drop off your car rental at one of the same pre-approved locations: Parking Lots 1, 2, or 3, or the Surface Lot. Just like pickup, chat with your host ahead of time using the Turo app to make sure you're on the same page regarding collection time and location. When you arrive at Pensacola Airport, take a ticket for your chosen parking lot and leave it in the vehicle for your host. Deposit the keys in a drop box, and head to your awaiting flight!
Pensacola International Airport (PNS) is about six miles from the downtown Pensacola area, or approximately a 12-minute drive in your rental car. As you leave the airport, follow signs to Interstate 110 (I-110) and take it all the way downtown until you reach your destination.
Driving in Pensacola is a total dream, particularly if you've experienced other parts of Florida, where traffic is cumbersome to navigate and road hazards are common. The roads are wide, drivers are friendly, and traffic doesn't hit the same peaks as other, larger cities.
Of course, there are still a few things to be aware of before you start traversing the Pensacola streets in your PNS car rental. Florida has unique road rules like the 'Move Over Law', which requires motorists to move over a lane or slow down to 20 miles below the speed limit when passing a stationary utility, sanitation, or wrecking vehicle.
Florida also has 'no turn on red' signage at some intersections, but if there is not one of these present and it is safe to do so, you can turn right at a red light – after coming to a full stop first. Unlike many states, hazard lights are permitted for use in heavy rain or fog, but only on highways where the speed limit is above 55 miles per hour (mph).
Pensacola is mild in the winters and blazing hot in the summers, so cold weather is rarely a concern – there's truly no need for snow tires or chains in Florida. However, it is important to be aware of the consequences of driving in extreme heat, such as burst tires or overheated engines.
When you're looking for a safe spot to park in Pensacola, you'll be presented with a handful of options, including metered street parking, city-owned car lots, and private parking garages. In the downtown area, street parking is usually free for the first 30 minutes.
If you'd prefer the security of a parking lot, look for teal signage that indicates a city-owned lot, or red or green signage to mark a private lot. There are also a handful of free surface lots in the Pensacola city center, including Belmont-DeVilliers and Community Maritime Park, but these tend to fill up quick – so aim to get in early, especially if you're headed to the area for an event!
In Pensacola itself, there's one notable toll road – the Bob Sikes Bridge at Pensacola Beach. As the Bob Sikes Bridge is entirely cashless, you must pay this toll using a SunPass, the transponder used in the area.
If you're staying outside of Pensacola proper in an area like Milton, Garcon Point or Avalon, there's also the Garcon Point Bridge toll, which connects these towns to the Gulf Breeze area en route to Pensacola Beach.
Gas stations aren't tough to find throughout Pensacola and its surrounding suburbs. You'll find plentiful options from Circle K, Exxon, Shell and more all over the city, including on major thoroughfares downtown like Cervantes Street, 9th Avenue, and Garden Street. There are also a few places to stop as you head to Pensacola Beach along the Gulf Breeze Parkway and Pensacola Beach Road.
If you've chosen a zippy electric car for your time in Pensacola, you'll want to make a note of the electric vehicle (EV) charging stations available before you take any extended trips. While Pensacola is growing, it's still quite a small city with just over 50,000 residents, so EV chargers aren't in the same high demand as they are in bigger areas like Tampa or Orlando. There are a handful of options from Blink and other providers downtown along West Garden Street, and additional chargers can be found at car dealerships, restaurants, and malls throughout the city, including Mercedes-Benz of Pensacola on West Navy Boulevard and the Waffle House on North Davis Highway.
Pensacola is infinitely more fun and easy to explore when you've got a reliable rental car at your service. There are a handful of buses and beach trolleys in the area, but most tourists and residents alike get around by car.
When it comes to a spot to collect your car rental, Pensacola Airport is undoubtedly the most convenient – then, you'll have the freedom and flexibility to explore the area from the second you touch down on the tarmac.
On Turo, you'll find car rentals of all shapes and sizes across every category imaginable, including SUVs, sedans, electric vehicles, compact cars, minivans, pickup trucks, sports cars, and even vintage models. Cruise by the beach in the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited or the BMW 3 Series, cut a striking figure in the Tesla Cybertruck or the GMC Sierra, safely drive your companions around in the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, or seamlessly cut through city traffic in the Ford Mustang Convertible.
All these popular cars – and many more – are available to rent from Pensacola International Airport (PNS) on Turo, so you can skip the fuss of the airport car rental counter and breeze straight from the baggage claim area to your waiting vehicle.
The cost of car rental in Pensacola can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap car rentals in Pensacola, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.
