The Louisville and Nashville Turnpike is a historic toll road that winds from Lincoln’s birthplace to Bardstown, about an hour south of Louisville. With heavenly scenery and historic stops along the way, this drive is about as good as it gets.
1694 off Covered Bridge
Heading toward the Prospect neighborhood, take 42 to 329, which will turn into Covered Bridge Rd, then turn right onto 1694. After passing a golf course, this shaded, windy road takes you through the woods, past a dam, a lake, and, in certain seasons, a waterfall.
