A terrible, old car with a dishonest owner.
We first booked a Mitsubishi Outlander from the same owner. He arrived at the airport late, and we had to wait for him. The car didn't have full gas. The rear seat belt buckle was broken (this has already been mentioned in reviews), and our child couldn't fasten it. We wasted over an hour until the owner somehow fixed it. Finally, after an hour and a half, we finally drove off... but that was just the beginning.
A few days later, we discovered the car was leaking oil. I wrote to the owner about it. He replied, "Buy a can of oil and add as much as needed." I bought the oil myself and added it, although it wasn't my responsibility, of course. But the oil kept leaking. There are still oil stains in the parking lot near our house. Then the headlights stopped working. We wrote to the owner about this and arranged for him to replace the car for us. However, we had to drive to his place (100 miles there and then 100 miles back). We spent almost a whole day on the replacement car and a fair amount of money on fuel for the trip. He gave us another car, a BMW X3, which was also in terrible condition: a broken fog light, non-working parking sensors, and a completely dead battery in the key, which we had to replace out of pocket. But at least there was no oil leak – thankfully. Furthermore, the owner had lied to the TURO service center when he was transferring the Mitsubishi to a BMW. He didn't want to tell them that we had to return the first car due to malfunctions and its terrible condition, but lied to them, claiming he was replacing the car simply because he wanted to make it better. So, the owner owes me £45 for a can of oil, £5 for a battery replacement, and £150 for a full day of my time and fuel spent driving 200 miles to replace one terrible car with another. And he still hasn't paid me back! And I also gave him £10 for airport parking for some reason...
We'll never rent a car from him again, and we wouldn't recommend it to anyone!
