Discovering Edinburgh's treasures and Scottish highlands from Edinburgh Airport

Edinburgh Airport positions you perfectly to explore Scotland's most celebrated attractions and stunning landscapes. From the airport, you can easily reach the historic Royal Mile, the majestic Edinburgh Castle, and the mysterious closes of the Old Town. A convertible enhances your Scottish adventure by letting you experience the fresh Highland air as you drive through picturesque villages, along dramatic coastlines, and past ancient castles. The freedom of open-top motoring perfectly complements Scotland's natural beauty, whether you're heading to the nearby Pentland Hills, the charming town of St Andrews, or the scenic shores of Loch Lomond.

Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile experience

Edinburgh Castle stands majestically atop Castle Rock, offering panoramic views across the city and beyond. The fortress houses the Crown Jewels of Scotland and the famous Stone of Destiny, making it an essential destination for any visitor. Parking near the castle requires some planning, as the historic Old Town features narrow streets and limited spaces. Your hired convertible allows you to appreciate the castle's imposing silhouette from various vantage points around the city. The journey through Edinburgh's streets becomes part of the adventure, with the castle serving as a constant landmark guiding your exploration of this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site.

Arthur's Seat and Holyrood Park adventure

Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh's ancient volcano, rises dramatically from the heart of the city, offering spectacular hiking opportunities and breathtaking views. The surrounding Holyrood Park provides ample parking areas where you can safely leave your vehicle before beginning the ascent. The drive around the park's perimeter roads showcases stunning perspectives of this geological wonder from multiple angles. After your hike, you'll appreciate returning to your rental car for a comfortable journey back into the city centre, perhaps stopping at one of the nearby cafés to reflect on the magnificent panoramic views you've just experienced.

Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh serenity

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh spans seventy acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, featuring over 13,500 plant species from around the world. Located in the Inverleith area, the garden offers convenient parking facilities and easy access from the city centre. Your convertible car hire journey to the gardens takes you through some of Edinburgh's most elegant neighbourhoods, with tree-lined streets and Victorian architecture creating a scenic route. The garden's Chinese Garden, Victorian Palm Houses, and stunning views towards the city skyline make it a perfect destination for a peaceful afternoon. The fresh air and natural beauty provide an ideal complement to your open-top driving experience through Scotland's capital.

Leith waterfront and Royal Yacht Britannia discovery

The historic port of Leith has transformed into Edinburgh's most dynamic waterfront district, home to the decommissioned Royal Yacht Britannia. This floating palace served the Royal Family for over forty years and now offers fascinating insights into royal life at sea. The drive to Leith takes you through diverse Edinburgh neighbourhoods, showcasing the city's evolution from ancient capital to modern metropolis. Parking near the yacht is readily available, and the waterfront location provides excellent opportunities for scenic drives along the Forth estuary. The maritime atmosphere and excellent restaurants make Leith a perfect destination for combining cultural exploration with culinary delights.

Grassmarket and Edinburgh's Old Town charm

The historic Grassmarket buzzes with traditional pubs, independent shops, and street performers beneath the towering presence of Edinburgh Castle. This ancient marketplace has served as the heart of Edinburgh's social life for centuries, hosting everything from mediaeval markets to modern festivals. Whilst parking in the Old Town requires careful navigation of narrow mediaeval streets, the atmospheric journey through these historic thoroughfares adds to the authentic Edinburgh experience. Your rental convertible allows you to fully appreciate the dramatic architecture and steep closes that characterise this UNESCO World Heritage area. The Grassmarket's vibrant atmosphere, combined with its rich history and stunning castle views, creates an unforgettable Scottish experience that perfectly complements your open-air motoring adventure.
