Mercury Comet 1963

Tom was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. The Mercury Comet was beautiful, in amazing condition, and made my daughter’s prom night feel perfect. The pictures turned out incredible and this was truly the highlight of her experience because this was the one thing she really wanted. Tom was kind, professional, communicative, and made the entire process smooth and stress free. One thing I really appreciated was the detailed video he sent ahead of time showing us how to operate the vehicle. Since it’s a 1963 classic car and we aren’t familiar with older vehicles, that extra touch meant so much and helped us feel fully prepared and comfortable. You can tell he genuinely cares about his renters and takes pride in his vehicle. We are so grateful he’s on Turo and we will definitely be renting from him again. Highly recommend.

It was perfect for our special day! Would highly recommend this car for special occasions, or a fun weekend.

True 1986 driving experience! Glad the weather was in the 70s during my trip. Truly a car you rent if you’re trying to experience LA in a classic, manual, bare-bones car; I loved it. So nostalgic.

Toyota Land Cruiser 1977

A unique opportunity to rent the ICONIC Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 that was imported from the Japanese market. The steering wheel is on the right side, so you’ll be shifting the 4-speed manual with your left hand. This dijon mustard Land Cruiser will get attention EVERYWHERE you go. The little diesel isn’t fast, so plan ahead and stick to the slow lane. What a joy to experience something most people have no access to. I will rent this again! Jonathan made the rental very easy and walked me through the features of the vehicle.

This is an amazingly fun automobile - but - do not rent it unless you're OK getting your photo taken. We were mobbed by photographers in Monaco, Eze and Cap Ferrat - the combination of the car and my stunningly beautiful wife. Arthur was tremendously helpful. Thank you! It's just terrific memories made.

Frequently asked questions in Inverness

Why choose a classic car for Highland touring?

Classic cars offer an authentic way to experience the Scottish Highlands, with their elegant styling perfectly complementing the dramatic Highland scenery. These vintage vehicles provide a unique touring experience that connects you to the romantic era of motoring through Scotland's most spectacular landscapes. The slower pace of classic car driving allows you to fully appreciate the breathtaking Highland vistas and historic castles that define this remarkable region.

What should I expect when driving vintage vehicles?

Vintage cars require a more deliberate driving approach, with manual transmissions and different steering responses compared to modern vehicles. Classic car hire typically includes vehicles with unique characteristics like heavier clutches and distinctive engine sounds that enhance your Highland adventure. These sports car classics demand greater attention to driving technique but reward you with an unmatched connection to Scotland's scenic Highland routes.

How do I secure a classic car whilst parked?

Always lock your classic rental car and engage the handbrake when exploring Highland attractions or stopping for tours of Scottish castles. Vintage vehicles often feature traditional security systems, so ensure all windows are closed and valuables are stored out of sight. When visiting Highland villages or scenic viewpoints, choose well-lit parking areas and avoid leaving the car unattended for extended periods during your Scottish touring experience.

Can classic cars handle Scottish Highland journeys?

Classic cars are well-suited for Highland road trips, as Scotland's main touring routes feature well-maintained surfaces perfect for vintage vehicle exploration. These elegant classics excel on the scenic Highland drives between historic sites and dramatic landscapes that make Scotland famous. Most classic car hire options include vehicles specifically maintained for Highland touring, ensuring reliable performance throughout your Scottish adventure.

How does Highland weather affect classic car rentals?

Scotland's changeable Highland weather requires extra consideration when planning classic car tours, particularly regarding soft-top sports cars and convertible models. Vintage vehicles may need additional warm-up periods during cooler Highland mornings before beginning your day of Scottish exploration. Pack appropriate weather gear and plan indoor attractions like historic Highland castles when conditions become challenging for open-air classic car touring.

Which scenic Highland routes suit classic car drives?

The North Coast 500 offers spectacular Highland scenery perfect for classic car touring, winding through dramatic Scottish landscapes and historic villages. Highland routes around Loch Ness and through Glen Coe provide ideal settings for vintage car photography and leisurely drives past ancient Scottish castles. These classic touring roads showcase the best of Scotland's Highland beauty whilst offering gentle gradients suitable for sports car classics and elegant vintage vehicles.
