Great host and comfortable car

Absolutely awful experience — avoid this host.
I have used car-sharing services before and have never experienced anything remotely like this. What should have been a straightforward rental turned into one of the most stressful and intimidating experiences I’ve had.
The first major issue was AdBlue. The vehicle apparently required it, but the host failed to provide adequate information or make sure the car had what it needed. As a result, I ended up stranded in the middle of France because the car could no longer be driven. Being left effectively stranded in another country because of something the host should have dealt with before handing over the vehicle is completely unacceptable.
Then there was the AirTag. I discovered that an AirTag had been placed in the vehicle without the host informing me. Whatever their reason for putting a tracker in the car, this should have been disclosed upfront. Finding out about it myself was extremely unsettling and destroyed any sense of trust I had in the host.
Unfortunately, the worst part happened when I returned the car.
Instead of a normal handover, the host and his brother became aggressive and threatening toward me. I was trying to calm the situation down and reason with them, but they repeatedly insulted me, including calling me a “pussy.” At one point, the brother's recent release from jail was brought up in what I understood as an attempt to intimidate me. That is an absolutely unacceptable way to behave toward a customer.
They also made derogatory comments about me being autistic, using something completely outside of their business as a way to mock and belittle me. When they realised I was gay, the tone also became increasingly uncomfortable, with comments and behaviour that came across as homophobic.
Whatever disagreement they had with me, there is simply no excuse for intimidation, personal insults, mocking someone's disability, or making someone feel unsafe during a vehicle return.
I genuinely regret renting from this host. Mechanical/maintenance problems can happen, but the way this situation was handled went far beyond a normal rental problem. Being stranded, discovering an undisclosed tracker, and then being subjected to aggressive and discriminatory behaviour at the end of the rental is completely unacceptable.
I would strongly recommend that potential renters think twice before booking with this host. My experience was stressful, frightening, and completely unlike the basic level of professionalism I would expect from someone renting out a vehicle.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. The car was spotless, well maintained, and drove perfectly throughout the trip. Pickup and drop-off were both quick, easy, and hassle-free, and the host was friendly, professional, and responsive to any questions. Everything was exactly as described, making the whole process smooth and stress-free. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable rental. Thank you!
