The good: i8 is pretty, convenient pick-up/drop-off, comms with host. The bad: The car was not fit to drive on delivery. Check Engine Light/Driveline fault limp mode meant it would not get to 60+mph on highways unless downhill. Critical Oil level warning meant I had to stop for oil 30 minutes into the trip, no working odometer, low washer fluid, and service warning on dash upon collection. The car had apparently been serviced a few days earlier, so draw your own conclusions.
Host was very apologetic and offered to cut short the trip / collect the car from Edinburgh, but we limped it back home to London instead. In summary, came away with a disappointing new years roadtrip and a cautionary tale. The car should not have been made available for rent. The engine worked sporadically for a cumulative 3 hours of the 26 hour drive over the week long trip. When it did work, it was fun.

I had a great experience renting from the host! The vehicle was incredibly clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described. You can tell they take pride in keeping it in top condition. Communication was smooth and professional from start to finish, and the pick-up/drop-off process was quick and easy. I’d definitely rent from this host again—highly recommended!
