When you're booking your rental car on Turo, you'll need to coordinate pickup and drop off locations with your host. You can do this by messaging them before your flight's departure via the Turo app. Upon arrival, exit the baggage claim area and find your vehicle, then use the ticket provided by your host to leave the parking garage. On your way back to PHL, simply find your way to your pre-arranged drop off location, grab a parking ticket, and leave it in the vehicle so your host can exit safely.
At Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) you can use cash, a debit card, or a major credit card like Visa or Mastercard to pay upon leaving the garage. Parking fees are not covered by Turo, so make sure you speak with your host prior to your arrival to confirm their process. Philadelphia Airport also requires Turo to collect a fee for leaving a vehicle on airport grounds. This will be included in the total you pay at checkout.
Contactless check-in and checkout
Many hosts offer contactless check-in and checkout, if their car has remote access technology, allowing you to find the car, unlock it, and be on your way without meeting them in person. Message your host for specific instructions.

Other car rental companies don't offer the same convenience, simplicity, and affordability as Turo. In just a few quick clicks, you'll have the keys to explore Philly at your leisure with a reliable rental car that's just as easy to drive as it was to coordinate. Here are a few expert tips to ensure your car rental experience in Philadelphia is as soon as possible.
Philadelphia Airport car rental is quick and easy using Turo. Take your pick from a range of vehicle classes, including premium luxury sedans, vans, sports cars, and full-size luxury SUV options. Once you've booked your car, strike up a conversation with your host on the Turo app to coordinate your pick-up time and location from one of the approved locations at Philadelphia International Airport (Garages A/B, C, D, and E/F).
Facilitate your rental car return at Philadelphia International Airport by chatting with your host and selecting from one of our approved pick-up and drop-off locations (the Open Parking Garages A/B, C, D, and E/F ). When you enter the parking garage, you'll need to take a parking ticket and leave it in the vehicle so your host can safely exit the lot once your car rental handover has been completed.
Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is about 10 miles from downtown Philly via the I-76 W, which depending on the time of day (and whether you're tackling rush hour traffic!) will be a 15- to 40-minute drive.
One of the best bits about using Turo is that you don't need to line up at any car rental facility, delaying your journey. Once you've exited the plane and grabbed your bags, simply make your way directly to your car rental pickup location and start driving.
Cruising around Philadelphia is easy once you've got the road rules down pat — but this city definitely has some driving quirks to be aware of!
In Philly, you must follow the general road rules of Pennsylvania, including adhering to speed limits, wearing a seatbelt at all times, yielding to construction vehicles whenever possible (by moving into the far lane), and not using a cell phone unless it's hands-free.
The speed limits in Philadelphia are 15 miles per hour (mph) in school zones, 35 mph in residential areas, 55 mph on divided roads, 65 mph on urban freeways, and 70 mph on rural freeways.
There are quite a few one-way streets in Philadelphia, so be sure to keep this in mind — and use Waze or Google Maps — if you're unsure where you're headed. Something unique to Pennsylvania road laws is that if you are turning from one one-way street into another, you may make a left even on a red light. However, you must come to a complete stop first!
The weather on the East Coast can be unpredictable, so always turn headlights on for better visibility in the rain or snow, and consider using snow tires in frosty conditions.
Philly is a pretty big city, which means there are lots of parking options available, including on-street parking downtown, suburban parking, and parking garages like the one on 1540 Vine St. On-street metered parking spots can be found throughout the city in key business and residential areas.
Neighborhood parking in Philadelphia is also easy to access once you leave the downtown area, but be aware of time limitations for non-residents — visitors can usually only park for two hours at a time for free.
There is one toll road in Philadelphia; the Pennsylvania Turnpike. This road, which has been in operation for over 80 years, runs from the Ohio state line to the New Jersey state line, intersecting the Pennsylvanian cities of Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh.
You'll find gas stations at every turn in Philadelphia, including a few in each direction as you leave Philadelphia Airport. Although your car rental will come ready to go with a full tank of gas, should you need to top up on your way back, you'll have your pick of providers along N Governor Printz Blvd, just west of the airport.
Electric vehicle (EV) chargers are also dotted throughout Philadelphia at gas stations, hotels, and dedicated charging areas. Charging shouldn't be a problem regardless of where you are in Philly, but if you're looking for electric hotspots, try the streets surrounding the University of Pennsylvania or the city center, near the City Hall subway stop.
Although downtown Philadelphia may be very walkable and well-serviced by public transport options, the second you want to explore farther out — from the Main Line suburbs to nearby attractions in the Keystone State — a car rental becomes a must-have. Skip the clunky shuttle bus and zip around in your own vehicle, which will give you the freedom to see everything, not just Philly, but the entire Keystone State is known for. And, if you're looking to quickly secure your car rental, Philadelphia Airport is the perfect pick-up place.
Whatever the occasion, you'll find rental cars that run the gamut from electric luxury sedans to mid-size cars, large SUVs, sports cars, and more on Turo. All you'll need is a valid driver's license, a Turo account, and your payment method to rent the perfect vehicle.
Discover the latest and greatest cars on Turo, including fan faves like the Honda Civic, future-focused models like the Tesla Cybertruck, and crowd pleasers such as the Mitsubishi Outlander. You can also find versatile options like the Toyota RAV4, family-friendly picks like the Subaru Ascent, elegant cruisers like the BMW 3 Series or Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and all-electric rides like the Tesla Model Y.
The cost of car rental in Philadelphia can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap car rentals in Philadelphia, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.

Yes, multiple guests can drive the car you rent on Turo, as long as they are all approved to drive. The primary driver (whoever rented the car) can add additional drivers with no fees or additional charges. Only the primary driver can request to add drivers; Turo hosts cannot do it for you. We encourage you to request to add additional drivers before your trip starts, though guests can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress.
To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.

Liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host’s vehicle.
For questions or information about the third party liability insurance that is included in protection plans, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 or claims@turo.agency.
