The LEAF was one of the first widely adopted electric cars to reach the market, and it helped bring EVs to everyday drivers. For 2026, the third generation returns as a compact electric crossover with five seats. It's a Nissan rental that trades gas station stops for a plug.
On Turo, the car rental marketplace, you book your Nissan LEAF car rental from a local vehicle owner. Then you arrange pickup and drop-off that fit your plans. Browse by year, trim, and location, then choose the LEAF that matches your trip.

The 2026 LEAF delivers up to 303 miles of EPA-estimated range on the S+ trim, with 259–288 miles on the higher trims. Its 75 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery powers a front-wheel-drive motor that makes 214 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque. Translation: fewer charging stops and more time on your route.
The LEAF keeps charging flexible with two ports: a NACS port and a J1772 port for Level 2 charging. The NACS port also opens up Supercharger locations, so you've got more places to plug in on the go.
At compatible Level 3 chargers, DC fast charging runs at up to 150 kW. A 10%–80% charge takes about 35 min — roughly the length of a coffee and a quick stretch. Enhanced battery thermal management keeps charging consistent in cold weather, too, which is handy for winter trips.
The 2026 LEAF is a compact electric crossover with seating for five. Its redesign moved the LEAF from a compact hatchback to a crossover shape, giving you a more versatile everyday car without a bulky footprint.
Cabin space and cargo room both improve over the previous generation, so there's more space for passengers, groceries, and weekend bags. The compact size still suits city streets, tight parking garages, and busy neighborhood errands. It's the right fit when you want room to spread out, minus the bulk.
The LEAF fits the trips you take most: city commutes, errands across town, and weekend getaways within its range. It's also a smart try-before-you-buy test, giving you a few days of real charging stops and daily routines before you commit to EV life. Compare it with other electric vehicle rentals on Turo to find your favorite.

Three standouts shape life inside the LEAF: a dual-screen digital cockpit, ProPilot Assist, and premium touches on the Platinum+.
The LEAF puts a pair of wide screens across the dash, keeping the information you need in your line of sight. The base trim gets two 12.3-in screens, while the top two trims step up to dual 14.3-in displays.
That setup gives the cabin a clean, modern look and puts the essentials up front. Since screen size depends on trim, check the listing if a bigger display matters to you. It's an easy detail to compare as you browse LEAF listings on Turo, since photos often show the dash up close.
Every 2026 LEAF comes standard with ProPilot Assist, which pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist. Adaptive cruise control helps maintain a set distance from the car ahead, while lane-centering assist helps keep you in the middle of your lane.
It's a welcome co-pilot on long highway stretches and busy commutes, easing the workload when the miles stack up. You're still the one driving, though — keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. Think of it as backup that lets you focus on the drive ahead.
The Platinum+ trim adds the details that make a drive feel special. A dimming panoramic roof lets you control how much light fills the cabin, Bose audio brings richer sound, and 19-in wheels sharpen the stance.
These extras depend on trim, so check the listing before you book if they're on your wish list. Look for the Platinum+ name in the listing details to make sure you get the full package. It's a simple step that turns a good trip into a memorable one.

Good car and the owner was very helpful and my expectations were more then met.

The car was great! My first time with an EV so there was a bit to learn, but very straight forward, nothing too complicated. If you’re not familiar with EVs and nervous about the process I would recommend prepaying for the charging add-on. The host was great, easy to communicate with and timely so I never had to wait for a response.

Start with the listing, since model year and trim shape the range and features you'll get. Earlier-generation LEAFs differ from the 2026 crossover, so confirm the year before you book.
Check the photos and note the charging port type, since it affects where you can plug in. If you need more room for a bigger group, consider a Nissan Pathfinder rental instead.
Charging is the main thing to plan around in a LEAF, and a few habits keep it simple:
Photograph the battery gauge at pickup and drop-off.
Return the LEAF with the same charge level it had at pickup.
Plan fast-charge stops on longer drives, since a 10%–80% charge takes about 35 min at compatible chargers.
Pay for on-trip charging with a debit or credit card at most stations outside the Supercharger network.
Confirm the car's port type before you head to a Supercharger location.
The cost to rent a LEAF depends on the model year, trim, location, and trip dates. Many listings offer trip-length discounts for three-day, weekly, and monthly trips.
Book a non-refundable trip four or more days ahead and you'll save 10%. For longer stays, explore long-term car rental on Turo.
