Step back in time in Fremont's charming Niles District, a hidden gem for history buffs and film enthusiasts. This quaint neighborhood was once home to silent film production in the early 1900s. Today, it's filled with antique shops, boutiques, and cafes. When driving to Niles, look for street parking along the main thoroughfare. The district is relatively compact, so once you've parked, you can easily explore on foot. Don't miss the Niles Canyon Railway for a scenic ride through the nearby canyon.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Mission Peak offers a challenging hike with rewarding panoramic views of the Bay Area. The trailhead is easily accessible by car, with a spacious parking lot available. However, it's best to arrive early, especially on weekends, as the lot can fill up quickly. The hike itself is steep and exposed, so be sure to bring plenty of water and sun protection.
