Unfortunately, the vehicle itself was a major disappointment.
It wasn’t very clean on pickup, with quite a bit of dust across the dash and infotainment system and a dried spill/stain in the trunk. More concerning was the mechanical condition. The check engine light was on, the engine had a very noticeable knocking sound that continued under acceleration, and the oil pressure warning came on shortly after. There was also a permanent low washer fluid warning despite the reservoir being full.
The rear air suspension also appeared to be leaking, as the vehicle sat noticeably lower in the back. The exterior wrap was peeling in several areas, and the front fender flares were popping out and looked misaligned. The vehicle had approximately 177,000 km. That may have been disclosed somewhere in the listing and I could have overlooked it, but had I noticed the mileage beforehand, I likely would not have booked it.
I specifically booked this vehicle for a wedding because I drive a newer model of the same vehicle at home. I wanted something familiar that my wife could comfortably drive if needed. There were newer and nicer options available around the same price, but familiarity was the reason I chose this one. Showing up to a family wedding in a vehicle with an obvious engine knock was honestly embarrassing and not the first impression I wanted to give my extended family.
On the positive side, the person managing the vehicle was very responsive and accommodating. They arranged two child seats for us, although one was a booster and the other was quite heavily worn. It would have been helpful to know beforehand that one was a booster, but fortunately my daughter is close to that stage anyway.
The airport pickup and drop-off were excellent. The vehicle was brought directly to arrivals and collected at departures, which was extremely convenient compared with others in our group who had to walk 10–15 minutes to off-site parkades.
Overall, the service and communication were good, but the condition and quality of the vehicle itself were well below what I expected.
