:Pick-up was confusing from the beginning, as there were no instructions or directions provided. I eventually had to call the host myself to figure out what I was supposed to do. During that call, I was informed that an oil change had recently been completed, but they had been unable to figure out how to reset the oil monitor.
When I turned the vehicle on, it was extremely noisy and rattling noticeably. The sound was concerning enough that it made my child nervous. Shortly afterward, I noticed that the check engine light was also on. My mother then noticed that the front left headlight was completely out.
I immediately notified the host about these issues. I was told that the check engine light was related to the oil change. Based on what I was being told, we proceeded with our drive to the cottage.
Unfortunately, when it was time for us to leave the cottage and drive home, the vehicle would not start at all. What was particularly concerning was that booster cables were already sitting right by the seats, which made it seem as though starting or battery issues with this vehicle may not have been unexpected.
We had to get assistance from our mechanic, who discovered that the battery was extremely loose, along with several other concerns with the vehicle. He tightened the battery enough for us to get the vehicle running again, but specifically told me that I should not turn the vehicle off until we made it home.
As a solo mother travelling with two very young children, including an infant, this was an incredibly stressful situation. I had to make the entire drive home knowing that I could not safely stop and turn the vehicle off and worrying about whether it might break down or die while I had my children with me.
Interestingly, once the mechanic tightened the loose battery, the check engine light went off. However, after arriving home and eventually turning the vehicle off, I started it again and the check engine light immediately came back on. You can also physically hear the vehicle struggling when it starts.
Based on my experience, this vehicle does not feel or sound safe or properly maintained. Between the significant rattling and noise, the check engine light, the broken front headlight, the loose battery, the difficulty starting, and ultimately being stranded when the vehicle would not start, there appear to be several issues that need to be properly inspected and repaired before this vehicle is rented to someone else, particularly for longer trips.
It was also extremely frustrating that I had to pay out of pocket simply to get myself and my two young children safely home because of issues with the vehicle. I am incredibly thankful that we were ultimately able to make it home safely, but this was a stressful and concerning experience that I would not want another family to go through.

with the exception of the engine light being on - which we responded to her about immediatey, and truly is a simple sensor sensr fault - this person did not even notify us of ANY of the issues she wrote about here, and therefore did not even give us the opportunity to rectify anything
It must also be noted that this vehicle has had only 5 star reviews across many reservations
hosts beware of this one!
It was the perfect rental car for our weekend getaway!!!. The host went above and beyond to make everything easier. Would highly recommend renting with spyridon!
