The hosts were quite responsive. But they rented the car without any recent safety inspection. Our issues began with a flat tire within 24 hours of being on the road. We then found out there was no jack in the trunk, one of the lug nuts was too rusted to be turned with the wrench, and the spare tire turned out to be flat. We managed to borrow a pump and get the car to a mechanic, who then informed us none of the tires were in drivable condition due to there being almost no tread left. The hosts declined to offer any compensation besides allowing us to return the car without filling up the tank.

We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced on your trip. As soon as you reported the tire issue, we offered to immediately pay for a brand new set of tires at Canadian Tire to ensure your safety. We have since updated the vehicle's emergency roadside kit and tires to ensure this does not happen again.
