Good car for a family trip host was really helpful with pick up and drop offs

I rented Lu’s 2022 Toyota Sienna Hybrid for our trip through Nova Scotia. Overall, the vehicle itself was comfortable, spacious, reliable, and very economical on fuel. On a full tank, it showed approximately 775 km of range, which was great for the amount of driving we were doing.
The Sienna drove smoothly overall, although I found the braking could be a little less smooth than I expected. I believe this may simply be related to the regenerative braking system in the hybrid rather than an issue with the vehicle itself.
My main disappointment was the cleanliness of the vehicle at pickup. While it appeared reasonably clean at first glance, it seemed to have received more of a surface level cleaning. There was sticky residue in some of the cup holders, and when we moved/folded the third row seats, we found rainbow sprinkles and other sugary debris underneath them. This mess was already present when we received the vehicle and was not from us.
I was concerned that the pre existing mess could potentially be attributed to us when returning the vehicle, so during the trip I actually stopped at a self serve car vacuum and cleaned the area myself. I didn’t contact Lu about it at the time because we were travelling through rural parts of Nova Scotia where our reception was inconsistent, and it was easier for me to simply clean it and continue with our trip.
Communication with Lu was professional. Response times were not always immediate, and I would describe the level of accommodation as adequate rather than exceptional, but there were no major communication issues.
Overall, the Sienna itself was a very good vehicle for travelling around Nova Scotia, particularly because of its comfort, space, and fuel economy. The rental experience was satisfactory, but I wouldn’t describe it as exceptional. Better attention to cleanliness and detail before handing the vehicle over would have made a significant difference in the overall experience.
