They were all super nice, everything worked with the car and it got us everywhere safely. All in all awesome experience, loved the sunroof.

Car was perfect for our trip, he was super accommodating with pick up and drop off time which was a big help! The lower feature on the truck was great for parking garages too.

Kobe’s truck itself was mostly good. It’s a nice vehicle and worked well for mountain driving. However, several issues significantly impacted the overall experience.

First, the truck bed was broken into in downtown Vancouver, resulting in the theft of all my ski gear. I initially believed the bed cover was secure, but there was approximately a one-inch gap between the cover and the tailgate, which allowed someone to see inside and access the bed. This appears to be a security issue that could have been prevented if the cover fit securely.

Communication was the biggest problem throughout the rental. On the day of pickup, I messaged the hosts around 10am Denver time to confirm instructions. By the time I landed for my layover roughly two hours before the scheduled 7pm pickup, I still had not received a response. I tried calling, texting, and messaging through the app with no response and ultimately had to contact Turo support because I was unsure how to proceed so close to the start time.

The host eventually sent instructions. After landing in Vancouver, one of my checked bags was lost, which delayed me further. I then received a message from the host saying they could not wait due to another rental and that I had “25 minutes remaining.” I asked twice what this meant but did not receive a response.

When I picked up the vehicle, I was required to pay $30 CAD for airport parking. This was never disclosed ahead of time. In past Turo rentals, hosts have either covered or reimbursed airport parking, but this was not the case here.

Following the break-in, the host was slow to respond and initially unreachable by phone. I had to request a call through the app. While the host was apologetic, they did not offer to come inspect the vehicle, help assess what happened, or address the security issue with the truck bed for the remainder of the trip. Communication after this incident was minimal until it was time to drop the vehicle off.

I also spoke with one of the hosts in person, and when I mentioned the communication issues, I was told they manage around 40 vehicles.

Overall, the truck itself was fine, but the communication, lack of proactive support during a serious incident, and undisclosed costs made this a disappointing experience. I’ve had much better communication and support from other Turo hosts, and I would likely seek other options if renting in Vancouver again.

To anyone traveling to Vancouver please be vigilant with your belongings and do not leave anything in vehicles especially downtown
