Here’s a stronger review that warns future renters while staying grounded in what happened. Rather than stating that the host is unethical as a fact, it frames it as your opinion based on the experience.

The vehicle itself was clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described. We returned it in excellent condition and had no issues with the car.

Unfortunately, my experience with the host was very disappointing. Our original reservation was under my cousin’s name, but his flight from Tampa to Calgary was canceled, delaying his arrival by only a couple of hours. I had already been added as an approved driver through Turo, and we kept the host informed throughout.

I understand that Turo policy only allows the primary guest to receive the keys. However, while I was on the phone with Turo Customer Support, the representative explained to both of us that the host had the option to modify the reservation to accommodate the delayed arrival. The host refused to do so, allowed the reservation to be canceled, and told us we could simply book the vehicle again. Because we had reserved the vehicle a month in advance, rebooking cost us approximately $700 more.

While the car was excellent, I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and customer service in a situation that was completely outside our control.

My advice to future renters is to be very careful. If there is any possibility your travel plans could change because of a flight delay or cancellation, understand that this host may choose not to modify your reservation even when it is possible to do so. In my opinion, taking advantage of a situation where a customer has no practical alternative and must pay hundreds of dollars more does not reflect the level of fairness or customer care I expect. I cannot recommend this host based on my experience.

Vijay's response

We followed Turo policy. The secondary driver is not allowed to pick up the vehicle without the primary guest present. You spoke with Turo and chose to rebook. Turo instructed us to treat this as a guest no-show and cancel the trip. Please understand Turo’s policies before making inaccurate comments. We followed the rules exactly as required, and fellow hosts should always verify the primary guest before releasing a vehicle.

Overall, my experience with the vehicle delivery was disappointing due to the lack of professionalism and customer service.
The person who delivered the car was not responsive and did not provide any explanation of the vehicle's features or important aspects during the handover. When he arrived, I was standing outside near the driver's door, but he neither greeted me nor got out of the car for several minutes. I was left waiting, expecting at least a simple greeting or acknowledgment. I found this behavior rude and unprofessional.
A vehicle delivery is an important customer interaction, and I expected better communication, courtesy, and a basic walkthrough of the vehicle. Unfortunately, none of that was provided. Thanks
