Agile handling meets everyday space

Drive an X3

The BMW X3 is a compact luxury SUV that pairs sharp handling with room for five. Every 2026 US X3 comes with xDrive all-wheel drive, and the X3 30 xDrive runs a 255-hp turbo four with mild-hybrid assist. If you're browsing BMW car rental options, the X3 is a strong all-around pick.

On Turo, you choose the exact X3 in the listing, down to the year and trim, so there's no "or similar" surprise at pickup. You book from a local vehicle owner and coordinate pickup or delivery around your plans.

X3 specs

Horsepower

255 hp

Acceleration

0-60 mph in 6.0 sec

Top speed

130 mph

Weight

~4,176 lbs

Turbocharged, all-weather agility

The X3 30 xDrive gets its punch from a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder with a 48V mild-hybrid system. It makes 295 lb-ft of torque, which flows through an eight-speed automatic to xDrive all-wheel drive. You get quick, confident response on a freeway merge and steady grip when the pavement turns wet.

Cargo and cabin space

The X3 seats five and gives you 31.5 cu ft of cargo space behind the rear seats. That's enough for a weekend's worth of luggage, a stroller, or a big grocery run without playing suitcase Tetris.

Fold the rear seats when you need more room, and you'll open up to 67.1 cu ft — enough for boxes, bikes, or bulky big-box finds. Because the X3 stays compact on the outside, you get that flexibility without wrestling a full-size SUV into tight parking garages or city curbside spots. It's an easy fit for couples, small families, and anyone who packs a little extra.

Efficiency with mild-hybrid assist

The X3 30 xDrive is rated at 27 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. Those are solid numbers for a luxury SUV with all-wheel drive, and they help keep fuel stops in check on longer trips.

The 48V mild-hybrid system lends the engine a hand, so the X3 feels responsive without asking for constant throttle. That combination suits mixed days of stop-and-go downtown traffic and open highway miles between cities. On a long drive, that highway rating means more time behind the wheel and less time at the gas station.

Stand out with an X3

The X3 suits weekend getaways, business trips where first impressions count, and multi-day test drives before you buy. It brings comfort, space, and a little polish to each one. A few days with an X3 beats a quick dealership spin, and you can compare it with other luxury SUV rental options on Turo.

M50 performance

Want more speed? The X3 M50 xDrive steps up to a 3.0L inline-six with mild-hybrid assist, good for 393 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque. It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, compared with 6.0 seconds for the X3 30 xDrive.

That gap makes the M50 the pick if you want an SUV that feels genuinely quick on an on-ramp or a winding two-lane road. The X3 30 xDrive still delivers brisk, refined performance for most trips. M50 availability depends on the listings near you, so check the trim name before you book — it tells you which engine you're getting.

Fourth-generation design

The 2026 X3 belongs to the fourth generation of the model, known by its internal code G45. It brings refreshed styling, so a newer X3 looks and feels distinct from earlier versions.

X3 listings on Turo cover several model years, which gives you options across generations and price points. If the latest design matters to you, check the model year in the listing photos and details before you book. If you'd rather prioritize value, an earlier model year still gives you the X3's mix of handling, space, and all-wheel drive.

Everyday ride height

The X3 sits with 8.5 inches of ground clearance, giving you a commanding view of traffic without the bulk of a larger SUV. That height also makes it easier to slide in and out, load kids into car seats, or lift bags into the cargo area.

Pair the ride height with standard xDrive all-wheel drive, and you get steady confidence on rain-slick highways and snowy city streets. It's a comfortable, composed setup for winter trips to see family or a ski-season weekend. Think of it as everyday capability: the kind that keeps your plans on track when the forecast turns.

Renting this car from Julia was a great experience! Everything was seemless and easy from start to finish. I felt very honored to be the first person to rent this vehicle from her. The car was perfect, and Julia was great with communication. I would highly recommend her as a host and her vehicle to rent!

The car quality was impeccable as well as the communication with the driver. I was able to pick up the car at a location very close to my hotel. The return was a bit difficult due to my phone not being able to effectively sync with the digital key, however the owner provided me with his direct number so I can message him that I will be leaving the car at my hotel’s valet. I will certainly look to rent from him on my next visit to LA in a couple of weeks. Thanks again!

Top tips and things to know before renting an X3

A little prep helps you get the most out of your X3. Check the year and trim, plan for premium fuel, and compare prices and discounts before you book.

Get to know your X3

Start with the listing details, since X3 listings on Turo span model years such as 2020, 2022, 2025, and 2026. The 2026 lineup includes two US trims, the X3 30 xDrive and the X3 M50 xDrive, so confirm which one you're booking.

Inventory changes by city, so browse BMW rentals in Los Angeles for a West Coast trip or BMW rentals in Miami for a beach vacation. Heading to the Southeast? Check out BMW cars in Atlanta.

X3 driving tips

The X3 is easy to drive, and a few habits make it even better. Plan on premium gasoline when you fill up. Before you head out, try the drive modes for a few minutes in a quiet parking lot.

Packing for a group or hauling bulky gear? Fold the rear seats ahead of time to see how much space you'll have. You'll avoid a curbside shuffle when it's time to load up.

How much does it cost to rent an X3?

The price to rent an X3 on Turo depends on the listing, since each local vehicle owner sets the daily price. Your total varies by model year, trip length, location, and any Extras you add, and you'll see all mandatory fees upfront before you book.

Book at least four days ahead and you can choose a non-refundable option for a 10% discount. Listings may also offer discounts for three-day, weekly, and monthly trips.

Trips of 30 days or more have no trip fee, with exceptions in parts of Los Angeles and New York. For a longer stay, explore long-term car rental on Turo.
