Heather had a very very nice car to be host. Although it stated as 2018, but it just felt like a new car when driving. I even received a lot compliments in the parking lot during my driving trip. Definitely one of the best car I have been driven. And it's very friendly on the gas which is a bonus.

Had a great experience with Serhii’s Ford Fusion Hybrid. The car was clean, comfortable, and very fuel-efficient, and everything went smoothly from pickup to drop-off. Serhii was easy to communicate with and accommodating throughout. Would definitely book again and look forward to renting from him in the future.

The car was very good, it was very clean, worked well and came with a phone holder and two courtesy water bottles. The only small issue is there was a crack I'm the windshield and the windshield wipers were not aligned or not properly installed and they hit the side of the windshield making a lot of noise and not wiping very efficiently, which was a bit annoying for driving when it was raining or snowing.

Top tips for renting a car in St. Albert

Driving in a new city can be intimidating. Before you hit the roads, take a look at these hints and tips. They'll help you feel more secure on unfamiliar streets.

What are the road rules and driving conditions in St. Albert?

Driving in St. Albert is fairly relaxed. Local speed limits are usually 40 km/h on residential roads and 30 km/h in school zones. Speed limits are often monitored around schools and neighbourhoods, so it’s worth keeping an eye on posted signs. During winter, road conditions can change quickly due to snow and ice. Winter tires aren’t mandatory in Alberta, but are strongly recommended between late fall and early spring. Allow extra stopping distance and take it slow on residential streets and bridges.

What is parking like in St. Albert?

Parking in St. Albert is pretty easy to find, especially compared to larger cities. Many downtown areas, including Perron Street and St. Thomas Street, offer free on-street parking. This is convenient for shopping and visiting local attractions without worrying about parking fees. The St. Albert Centre mall also provides plenty of parking and runs a park & ride service on Saturdays, mainly for visitors heading to the city’s popular farmers’ market.

Are there toll roads in St. Albert?

No. There are no toll roads anywhere in Alberta, including in and around St. Albert. Drivers don’t need to worry about toll booths or electronic passes. This makes road trips around the region simpler and much more predictable, whether you’re commuting locally or heading out to explore the province.

Are there gas stations and EV chargers in St. Albert?

St. Albert has a wide network of gas stations spread across the city, so refuelling your rental car is rarely an issue. You’ll find stations along main routes and near shopping areas, which makes it easy to top up before heading out of town. EV charging options have also grown significantly in recent years. In particular, St. Albert Centre features a large bank of EV charging stations, which can also be used by other EV brands with the correct adapter.

Do I need to rent a car in St. Albert?

Yes, renting a car in St. Albert is highly recommended. While the city does have a bus network, services are limited. Additionally, routes don’t always connect to parks and attractions. Travel times can be long without a car, especially outside peak hours. For this reason, having your own vehicle makes getting around town far easier, whether for catching early morning sunrises or enjoying late nights on the town.
