Just stating the facts.
Car was dirty inside and out on receipt. Inside reeked of cigarette smoke. Owner said there had been a quick turnaround between us and previous renter - so no time to clean the vehicle. Had to pay $30 to airport parking attendant to get car out of garage. Vehicle delivered to airport at 2pm but had been ordered for 10:30pm - 8.5 hrs later. (Quick turnaround?) Alignment felt off. Brake system warning light came on when navigating the hairpin turns of the Cape Breton Highlands. Had to take vehicle to mechanic for service. Otherwise fine.

Great car for driving around Halifax! Convenient pick up and drop off at the airport. Unfortunately, the interior of the car had not been cleaned or vacumed prior ot our pick up.

I had an incredibly stressful experience with this rental. The host was highly unresponsive, unhelpful, and showed zero care for his guests' safety.
On the second day through our trip, the low engine oil warning light came on. When I contacted the host, he unhelpfully told me to just stop by a Mr. Lube the do the oil change on the following morning. Our schedule was extremely tight, and we had already purchased ferry tickets to Prince Edward Island for that morning. When I asked if he could handle the oil issue himself since it's his vehicle, he refused, claiming he didn't have time. As a result, we were forced to waste half a day of our vacation dealing with his car's maintenance.
Although he promised to reimburse any costs, the kind technician at Mr. Lube topped up the oil for free. Out of gratitude for his help, we gave him a $20 tip. To date, I have received absolutely no compensation or even an apology from the host for this massive inconvenience. Worse yet, the oil light turned back on later that evening, leaving us feeling deeply anxious about whether the car was even safe to drive.
The vehicle had other mechanical problems. The A/C blasted a foul, stinky odor the entire time, and later that night, a "Brake System Alert" lit up the dashboard. When I messaged the host about this critical brake safety warning, he completely ignored my texts.
This host’s total lack of accountability and poorly maintained car wasted an entire day of our trip, making our entire journey deeply uncomfortable and stressful.

Car was clean and tidy. I did not have the code required to retrieve the keys from the lockbox, but the host responded to my message quickly.
