The car we rented broke down on the side of the road due to lack of maintenance and rust on the under carriage of the car. Rusted to the point the ball and joint snapped separating the tire from the vehicle. To make matters worse, the host had brought it upon himself to charge us for the gas and a CONVENIENCE fee for filling it. Meanwhile we were coming politely inconvenienced losing an entire day if our trip because the car was physically undrivable on the side of the road and towed away. There was absolutely no way for us to fill the vehicle. This host is accepting absolutely no responsibility for his failure.
My apologies that your trip ended unexpectedly.
Safety remains my highest priority, and every vehicle is routinely inspected and maintained. The vehicle traveled nearly 900 km during your trip without any reported concerns.
Additionally, The post-incident inspection did not support claims that the failure resulted from inadequate maintenance or corrosion. Meanwhile, the fuel reimbursement was processed in accordance with Turo’s policies, and any convenience fee is determined by Turo.
