First, when we received the car, it was not part of the agreement that we will pay for airport parking. He handed me the ticket and only said “he tried for us to not pay it” but I ended up paying $10.50 cad, no big deal. But here’s the kicker, when I returned the car, he still charged me another $20 for the parking and I did message him that we should offset the previous parking fee I paid but he completely ignored me. So that’s $20cad for me!
Secondly, I wanted to agree with the other renter about micromanaging your trip. I am a Tesla owner myself and I know for a fact that you may charge your car at full charge of 100% when you’re in a trip. He constantly messaged me that I was beyond 90% which at first I let it pass but when we got to Jasper which unfortunately had only 1 charging station and had to completely load the car for we will not make it home to Harvey Heights with a 90% charge, true enough he was on me again and messaged me! What would be damaging to the car’s battery if you leave it at less than 10%. He even changed the charging limit from his own phone which I felt my privacy as a renter was violated. I had to even educate him and googled it myself and sent him an image that “Yes, it is safe to charge 100% on a trip”. It was the only time he agreed.
Lastly, because we are on a trip, naturally the exterior will have bugs which will be able to remove on a regular car wash. When I returned the car, I mentioned to him that and but the inside was kept tidy and no dirt at all and he said not to worry at all! After he left, a few minutes after, he messaged me that he needed to charge me extra $15 because there is too much bugs! This really tipped me off and my family! So on top of the $20, additional $15 + Turo fees, I ended up paying additional $37.xx cad!
It took me a while contemplating whether I should put a rating or not and just let it go but reading another renter like me experiencing the same that I had, I should let it be known too. This is not my first time renting a Tesla from out of the country and I really like the ride with this car but this experience is one of a kind!
If you’re ok to be micromanaged and not be transparent with extra “unexpected fees” at the start of the rental, then go for it! Otherwise, I would not recommend renting from him.
Interesting a guest read the rules, admitted to know the rules and still went ahead to break the rules and was not charged for breaking the rules and still gives a false narrative. If you knew you are not to charge beyond 90% then why complain about being micro-managed? Can you pickup a vehicle full of bugs on it? Can you return a vehicle with bugs on it to a rental company? On parking tickets at the airport. Did you expect not to pay for parking beyond your start/end trip time? Ridiculous.
