Most official studies conclude that in the long term, driving an EV is more sustainable than a traditional gas-powered car because it has zero tailpipe emissions and releases fewer greenhouse gasses. Especially as many countries turn to cleaner energy sources to power their electric grids, EVs will become even more sustainable. Battery production is resource-intensive, but EVs require less maintenance and last longer than gas-powered vehicles, and as battery recycling processes improve, fewer new materials will be required to produce them.
Additionally, Turo offsets 100% of its estimated global carbon emissions by investing in greenhouse gas-reducing projects. To achieve carbon-neutral travel across the marketplace, Turo purchases carbon offsets by investing in high-quality, verified emission reduction projects through a partnership with leading carbon offset developer Bluesource. These projects help combat climate change and balance out our carbon footprint through responsible forestry and improving efficiency in commercial trucking.
