William was an absolutely incredible host. He was always responsive, very communicative, and genuinely helpful throughout the entire rental. You can tell he really cares about providing a great experience. I rented the car for a couple of months and had absolutely no issues. I took it on several long-distance trips, and it was extremely reliable the whole time. The car drove great, was comfortable, and was very good on gas. Overall, I had a fantastic experience with both the car and William. No complaints at all, and I would definitely recommend renting from him. I’d happily rent from William again!

The scenic Essex County countryside beckons with its renowned wineries and peaceful rural roads, while downtown Windsor pulses with cultural venues and entertainment districts. Having a rental car transforms your visit into a personalised journey, allowing you to experience both urban sophistication and natural beauty throughout this distinctive border region.

Windsor's scenic riverfront and Sculpture Park

The Windsor Sculpture Park stretches along the Detroit River, creating one of Canada's most impressive outdoor art galleries with over 30 large-scale contemporary sculptures. This waterfront destination offers breathtaking views of the Detroit skyline while you stroll among world-class artworks. The park connects seamlessly to the riverfront trail system, perfect for leisurely exploration. Parking is readily available near the park entrance, and the scenic Ambassador Bridge provides a dramatic backdrop for your visit. Your rental car ensures easy access to this cultural gem while allowing you to continue exploring other riverfront attractions at your leisure.

Historic Walkerville district and architectural heritage

Walkerville stands as one of Canada's most beautifully preserved historic neighbourhoods, featuring stunning examples of early 20th-century architecture and tree-lined streets. This charming district showcases elegant mansions, heritage buildings, and the famous Walkerville Brewing Company. The area's compact layout makes it perfect for walking tours, while nearby parking allows convenient access to local boutiques and cafés. The neighbourhood's proximity to the riverfront means you can easily combine your architectural exploration with scenic waterfront drives throughout the greater Windsor area.

Point Pelee National Park and natural wilderness

Point Pelee National Park represents the southernmost point of mainland Canada, offering exceptional birdwatching opportunities and pristine natural landscapes. This remarkable destination features diverse ecosystems including marshlands, forests, and sandy beaches along Lake Erie. The park's famous boardwalk extends into the marsh, providing intimate wildlife viewing experiences. Spring and fall migrations bring thousands of birds and monarch butterflies to this ecological treasure. Your rental car provides essential access to this natural wonder, located south of Windsor, while allowing you to explore the surrounding Essex County countryside and its charming rural communities during your visit.

Downtown Windsor's cultural and entertainment district

Downtown Windsor pulses with energy through its concentration of theatres, galleries, restaurants, and nightlife venues that reflect the city's diverse cultural heritage. The Capitol Theatre anchors the arts scene with world-class performances, while local galleries showcase regional and international artists. The area's compact downtown core makes walking enjoyable, with convenient parking structures supporting easy access. Your rental car enables seamless transitions between downtown cultural experiences and other Windsor attractions, ensuring you can fully appreciate both the urban sophistication and the broader regional offerings.

Ojibway Prairie Provincial Nature Reserve and conservation areas

The Ojibway Prairie Provincial Nature Reserve protects one of Ontario's rarest ecosystems, featuring tallgrass prairie and oak savanna habitats that once covered much of southwestern Ontario. This remarkable conservation area offers peaceful hiking trails through landscapes that support unique plant and animal species found nowhere else in Canada. The reserve's educational programmes and interpretive trails provide insights into this vanishing ecosystem. Located within Windsor's city limits, the reserve offers easy access via city roads. How do I drive from Windsor International Airport to downtown?

From Windsor International Airport, head north on County Road 42 and follow the signs toward Windsor city centre. The route takes you through residential areas before connecting to major arterials that lead directly to downtown Windsor. Having your own rental car provides flexibility to explore Ontario's southernmost city at your own pace.

What driving rules should I know before leaving the airport?

Ontario requires all passengers to wear seatbelts, and drivers must keep headlights on during daylight hours on highways. Speed limits are posted in kilometres per hour, with residential areas typically set at 50 km/h and highways at 100 km/h. Right turns on red lights are permitted after coming to a complete stop, unless otherwise posted.

Are there toll roads near Windsor International Airport?

The Windsor area does not have toll roads, making it budget-friendly for car travel throughout the region.
