How you hope a host would be; prompt answering, helpful navigating the app and any questions I had, checked in when appropriate and even DELIVERED a spare key in the middle of the day (within an hour) when I got locked out of the car.
Super convenient contactless pick up and drop off, and the car was great.
Nikunj was an incredible host, going above and beyond to make sure the trip was safe and comfortable.
Friendly. Close to airport. Very good on gas would recommend for long drives.
Zhenzhou’s 2018 Prius Prime is magnificently maintained and rides delightfully. The fuel efficiency of the Prius is legendary for good reason; it’s incredibly stingy on fuel and still delivers more than adequate power with no worries of range that hybrid vs EV makes certain. Zhenzhou is friendly, quickly communicative, and helpful to the max! Our visit to Victoria and much of Vancouver Island was fantastic and made all the more so by this wonderful Turo host. If you’re coming to Victoria connect with Zhenzhou! You will only enhance your stay with his ride!
He helped me figure out how to charge the Tesla (my first time in an electric car) and was flexible with the drop off location.

Most on-street parking in the town centre is time-limited, typically allowing two to three hours of free parking. Be sure to note the posted time limits to avoid fines. Sidney and its surrounding areas offer several convenient options for refuelling your rental car. The Pat Bay Highway, which runs through Sidney, has multiple gas stations along its route. For those exploring the outskirts, gas stations are available in nearby communities like North Saanich and Saanichton. Driving in Sidney's urban areas differs significantly from navigating Vancouver Island's rural roads. In Sidney, expect slower speeds, more traffic lights, and pedestrian crossings. Parking can be more challenging in town, so consider renting a compact car for easy manoeuvring. Rural roads on Vancouver Island often feature winding routes, steeper gradients, and potentially unpaved sections. When renting a car in Sidney for rural exploration, an SUV or vehicle with higher clearance might be beneficial. Wildlife encounters are more common on rural roads, so stay alert. Urban driving in Sidney requires more attention to signage and other vehicles, while rural driving demands awareness of road conditions and surroundings. Adapt your driving style accordingly to ensure a safe and enjoyable Sidney car rental experience in both settings.

The main exception is the Port Mann Bridge and the Golden Ears Bridge near Vancouver, which use electronic tolling. However, these are quite far from Sidney and unlikely to affect most local trips. If your Sidney car rental adventures take you towards Vancouver, consider discussing toll options with your rental provider. They may offer toll packages or advice on how to handle potential charges. For most explorations around Sidney and Vancouver Island, you won't encounter tolls, allowing for worry-free driving experiences as you discover the beautiful landscapes of British Columbia.
When embarking on long-distance drives from Sidney to other parts of Vancouver Island with your rental car, preparation is key. Ensure your Sidney car rental has a full tank before setting out, as gas stations can be sparse in rural areas. Pack snacks and water for the journey, as some routes may have limited services. Familiarize yourself with your vehicle's features before leaving Sidney, especially if you're renting an unfamiliar model. Plan your route in advance, considering scenic detours and rest stops. Be prepared for changing weather conditions, particularly when driving through mountainous areas. Keep an eye out for wildlife, especially during dawn and dusk. Lastly, allow plenty of time for your journey to enjoy the stunning Vancouver Island scenery at a relaxed pace.
