The car condition is much worse than shown in photos. There are lots of scratches and I need to take 120+ photos to report it. One big thanks to myself is I took photos of the front bottom showing two major cracks. Because later it proved that it caused the wheel plastic lining to displace when I was driving on fast road (70kph)! It created a sound when i was driving. When I drove the car to repair shop, it actually just torn apart and dropped on the road behind me! Thanks god I was not on super highway, otherwise it may cause danger to myself and other cars. So I pulled out the car and went back and took the fallen part away from the road!! When I reported the case to host, and told him it is not by collision. He then reported the case directly to Turo saying it is collision! When I called him to explain and he ignored my call and told Turo staff he called me and I ignored my call. When I offered to drive his car to car shop to put the part back to the car, he insisted to have his car inspected first but I waited for 2 days and he didn’t tell me when inspection can be done. I asked him to refund to me while I return the car to him. He insisted saying no refund and if I feel unsafe (as I was afraid there would be other fallen parts because of those pre existing cracks), I can return the car to him (but no refund). On the date of pick up, the host was late for 40 mins as he got to the wrong place… On the date of return, the host didn’t show up himself but told me he had arrived. When I arrived, there is another young man taking the car (who is not registered person in Turo). Also, the host was not reliable as after I booked the car on Turo, he called me directly and asked me to cancel the booking and rent the car privately with him with a cheaper price. I thank good I didn’t do it because I would be in big trouble if I rented it with him privately and found out parts falling from his car because of pre existing cracks,. Overall, the feeling is that the hosting party is not trustworthy.
Thank you for the feedback. The vehicle was documented with clear, timestamped check-in photos taken by both parties, showing the wheel arch liner intact at pickup. The cracks referenced are cosmetic bumper marks and unrelated. Turo reviewed the case and determined the liner issue occurred during the trip and was handled through their official process according to policy. All communication was documented within Turo. Please do not attempt to shift responsibility for trip-related damage.
