⭐☆☆☆☆ — Very disappointing experience. Beware of questionable additional charges.
My rental ended in a dispute with the host over additional fees that I consider unjustified.
The host had informed me that, in addition to the per-kilometre rate, I would be charged an extra $70 CAD for exceeding the included mileage. I disputed this fee with Turo, and the decision was made in my favour.
Shortly afterwards, an additional $154 CAD cleaning fee appeared on my account. What makes this particularly concerning is the evidence provided by the host: the photos showed an interior covered in scattered crumbs and ketchup, as if food had been deliberately spread throughout the car. This was completely inconsistent with my own photographs, which show that the interior was clean when I returned the vehicle.
I am seriously questioning the credibility of the evidence submitted to justify this charge, and I have asked Turo to investigate the matter. The fact that this new claim appeared after the previous dispute was resolved in my favour makes the situation even more concerning.
I strongly advise future renters to be extremely cautious, take detailed photos and videos of the entire vehicle before and after every trip, and keep all communications and evidence.
Overall, this has been a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend renting from this host based on how these disputes have been handled.
