Stave off boredom with these pretty pictures

Bored in the house? Potty training your new puppy can only fill so much time, so we’re bringing you a moment of zen each week in the form of some of our most favorite motorcars from around the Turo marketplace. We like cars, you like cars, so let’s look at some cars.

For 2019, Mercedes fully redesigned the G-Class for the first time since 1979, and while it retains its boxy shape, stylish interior, and trailblazing bonafides, the new version is vastly improved in every aspect. The G-Class, commonly known as the G-Wagen, started life as a rugged military 4×4 but has evolved into a lavish status symbol for well-heeled drivers looking for a distinctive SUV.

Darren’s striking AMG G63, fantastically finished in Emerald Green Metallic, is an excellent example of the absurdity and charm the G-Class exudes. This high-performance AMG variant houses a 577-horsepower twin-turbo V8, which is mighty enough to hurl the nearly three-ton SUV with too much ease for such a lumbering, upright body. And the interior is lovely — as lush as you’ll find in most modern Mercedes sedans and leagues ahead of what you’ll find in any traditional 4x4s. The G-Class, then, is a vehicle of contradictions, but purposeful and joyful contradictions. It exists simply because it can, and for fans of the model, that’s really why it’s so much fun.
