New insurance provider, greater selection of cars, and a new chapter for car sharing in the UK
Our vision is to create a marketplace where you can book any car you want, wherever you want it, from a vibrant community of trusted hosts around the world.
Today we move one step closer to fulfilling that vision. I am thrilled to announce that under a new policy of insurance, Turo will soon have one of the widest breadth of cars — from Tesla to Porsche — of any car sharing marketplace in the UK.
Cars valued up to £100,000 can now be listed in the UK
Hosts in the UK are now able to list any eligible vehicle valued up to £100,000, irrespective of the insurance category the car falls into. This expansion of coverage marks a considerable milestone in our UK journey as it means we can finally welcome Tesla and other high-performance vehicles onto the marketplace. It is these cars that help to differentiate Turo from traditional car rental and we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring this enriched selection to our UK community.
Hosts can now list from the age of 18
Alongside increasing the breadth of vehicles that can be shared on Turo, we are also lowering the age that hosts can list to 18. More people than ever before — from budding entrepreneurs to students looking to pay for higher education — can now start a small business on Turo.
Guests can now book from the age of 20
Guests can now book a range of cars from the age of 20, making Turo one of the most accessible places for young people to access a car.
Hosts can now list a vehicle registered in their business name
We will now accept vehicles registered in the name of a business. This change has been inspired by conversations with our host community about ways Turo can support them and I’m thrilled to see us push this through with our new insurer. We continue to work on a personal insurance policy for our hosts and this remains a key objective in our drive to make it more straightforward to start and scale a small business on Turo.
Onwards and upwards!
