Vintage look, modern feel

Throughout December, we’re showcasing some of the sweetest cars that Turo owners have to offer with our “12 cars of Christmas” blog series. Start ticking cars off your must-drive bucket list, or get inspired to rent out your killer ride and share the love with other car aficionados.

In a city built upon luxury and driven by appearances, it’s tough to really stand out among all the beautiful noise.

Then there’s Jeremy’s 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster replica, which marries classic good looks with modern engineering, and sets itself apart in the LA landscape with clean lines and tasteful subtlety.

A deep, vibrant navy blue with 18 karat gold accents, cinnamon interior, and bluetooth connectivity, Jeremy’s speedster has the vintage look without the vintage feel. “I knew I wanted a classic convertible,” he said, “and I was attracted to the replica because it’s a brand new car. It’s like having your cake and eating it too,” referring to the classic Hollywood look without the mechanical troubleshooting that sometimes comes with owning a classic.

“The car is flat-out gorgeous,” he said. “And because it’s brand new, you get all the head turns without the headaches of a 60-year-old automobile.” And what’s more, “you won’t see it everywhere. It’s not your average sports car; it’s such a conversation starter.”

One of the main conversation points? The gold accents. The finest details — the grill, the exhaust pipe, the door handles — are all 18 karat gold. Nothing says LA luxury quite like a golden door handle.

So why share such a special car with strangers? “Whipping this car around the Hollywood Hills is a special experience. If I can share that experience with someone and put some passive income in my pocket at the same time, everyone wins,” he said. “It’s a blast to drive; the punch, the power — it handles incredibly.”

Visiting LA and want to watch some jaws drop? Whether you’re going to a red carpet premiere or just going for a drive up the PCH, channel your inner Bond or Bond girl and go in something truly one-of-a-kind.
