Put your best face forward

Editor’s note, September 2024: This post has been edited again for accuracy. Per the Turo terms of service, hosts are not allowed to use the Turo name or logo. Check out Turo host tools or the Host Success Learning Hub for the most up-to-date guidance.

Editor’s note, April 2022: We edited this page to remove mentions of “free photography”, as well as referral links. While both of these features were true and available at the time of publication, they are no longer available so we wanted to mitigate any potential confusion. Your host profile page got a makeover, and it’s never looked better. Your profile page is where guests on Turo get to know you and your cars — it’s your opportunity to make a strong first impression and is where the personal connection begins. Now that your host profile page has been refreshed, you can also use it to promote your Turo hosting prowess.

New & improved

While your host dashboard gives you a convenient place to look at all of your cars at once, it hasn’t always been that easy for guests. Now, your new profile page will display all of your cars and reviews in one place. Find your profile page in the drop down menu with an icon of your photo, and click on “Profile”. New guests will get a complete picture of you as a host, and returning guests can repeat great experiences with other cars you might offer. It’s also the perfect place to tell guests about yourself, and what makes you and your cars unique.

Tips for marketing your car

Having a gallery of your cars and reviews also makes it simple to promote yourself as a Turo host. While the Turo marketing team is always promoting the brand and available cars — think social media, email campaigns, press opportunities, billboards, and even on TV — there are plenty of valuable ways that you can market yourself as a Turo host.

Professional photography

As a general rule, people prefer eye candy to eyesores. No one likes a dirty car, and everyone likes to know what they’re paying for before they commit. So show your guests your car at its best. Whatever car you’re working with — whether it’s a brand-new luxury sedan or a seasoned daily driver that’s been around the block a time or two — getting it photographed professionally will make your profile page look that much more polished, professional, and appealing for potential guests. Check out best practices and a roster of pro photographers here.

Social media

Setting up social media accounts for your Turo profile page on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter is free, and an easy way to merchandise your cars and attract new guests. Social media lets people connect in a casual, personal way, and can allow you to inspire your followers to take new adventures. As you dive into marketing your car, please read the “Keep it original” section below before you come up with a business name to use in a web domain or social handles. There are some legal rules of the road around using the Turo brand name and logo, so please make sure you’re following these rules when you create your social accounts.

Here are a few pointers to make the most impact with your social media accounts:

  • Keep it conversational. Share stories about the things that inspire you to share and drive your car, and any new developments related to your cars and hosting.
  • Link to your host profile. Include a link to your profile page in your bio, account profile, or post to make sure people can find your cars.
  • Make your posts searchable. Tag your car’s location and use relevant hashtags, like #turo and #carsharing, the make and model of the car, places where photos are taken, or make up your own unique hashtag that captures what your Turo sharing is about!

Online marketing

You can also help guests find your cars by placing ads or listings on localized forums like Craigslist, FourSquare, or NextDoor. Here’s an example post you can use to guide your own:

Headline: {Year} {Make} {Model} available for sharing for ${price per day}/day

Body: Book my {Year} {Make} {Model} on Turo for just ${price per day}/day!

Turo is a car sharing marketplace where car owners like me can share cars with people like you. Turo offers various protection plans to cover you and my car during your trip. Check out my {Make/Model} on Turo {insert profile page link}!

Hitting the street

Never underestimate how effective it can be to talk to people face to face or virtually about the experience of booking your cars on Turo. Share your profile page with friends, family, neighbors, auto enthusiasts, and delighted guests, so they can easily find you and check out your car.

Keep it original

We’re all part of the Turo family, but bear in mind that the Turo logo and brand name is legally protected and is not available for use however you see fit. That said, as a host, you’re one of the most critical components of the entire Turo marketplace and business; we only succeed when you succeed. With that in mind, we have some guidelines to stay on the right side of the law.

Please don’t use the Turo logo or brand name

Legally speaking, the Turo name and logo belongs to Turo, so it’s not kosher to use it for your own marketing.

Please don’t use “Turo” in your web domain or social handle

Similar to the above, you’re not legally allowed to create a website or social media handle with the word “Turo” in it, or using the Turo logo. The Turo legal and brand teams must approve all usage of our logo and name, so the best approach would be to avoid using the Turo logo completely in your marketing campaigns, and simply link to your Turo listing. Get creative! It could even be as simple as the car you offer, like @PeterthePorsche, or @TheLilCamryThatCould.

We expect the new host profile page to unlock some new marketing and shareability potential for hosts, and we’re very excited to continue to help you grow and market yourself as a Turo host. Look forward to more features to help you market your cars, including vanity URLs and an improved referral flow. Don’t forget that maintaining high performance metrics is key when marketing yourself as a host, and you can always find general hosting tips on our Host tools page.

Thank you for being an awesome part of our community!
