Take a break with these pretty pictures

Every few Fridays, we like to bring you moments of zen in the form of some of our favorite motorcars from around the Turo marketplace. Let’s keep the fun going. We like cars, you like cars, so let’s look at some cars.

Back in 2017, Honda revived the NSX nameplate and brought us a second generation of their celebrated sports car from the nineties and early 2000s. That NSX became legendary for blending sharp handling and balance with everyday usability, something that flashier, more expensive competitors couldn’t quite achieve. For the second go around, Honda (Acura in North America) aimed to fill the same niche, and produced the lovely thing you see here.

Jesus’ 2018 Acura NSX looks just like a supercar should — low-slung and wedgy, with giant scoops and vents, gold wheels and quad exhaust tips. Even so, it’s certainly not as flashy or hardcore as similarly-priced options from the likes of Porsche and McLaren. It comes in a supercar shape and has supercar pieces, but somehow comes off subdued. What sets the NSX apart, then, is that subtlety, and its relative comfort and daily drivability.

Yes it’s blazing fast (573 hp, 3.1 seconds to 60 mph) and can corner and stop like few cars can. But it’s also an all-wheel drive hybrid with three electric motors to supplement its twin-turbo V6, giving you a quieter driving experience than you’d get with a V8 competitor. Adaptive dampers allow for a cushier ride around town than you’d expect, and the cabin is generously draped in leather and carbon fiber bits.

So the NSX splits things down the middle — you get immense acceleration and precise handling, but it might not hurt your neck or cause the neighbors to complain about the noise. Not a bad compromise at all.
