Stave off boredom with these pretty pictures

Bored in the house? All quarantine long we’ve been bringing you regular moments of zen in the form of some of our most favorite motorcars from around the Turo marketplace. We like cars, you like cars, so let’s look at some cars.

The Wrangler has long been Jeep’s prize-winning bull. Because they sell so many (and because Wranglers all generally look the same), Jeep loves to release special editions to offer some variety, generate buzz, and support various causes. From 1988 to 1993, Jeep offered an “Islander” options package for the YJ Wrangler, featuring bright tropical colors, groovy graphics, and some of the more popular options for the Wrangler at the time.

Daren’s 1989 Wrangler Islander is a fantastically preserved example with a freshly rebuilt 4.2L engine and 5-speed manual transmission. This classic little SoCal beach cruiser has a bunch of lovely Islander package details like the YJ’s optional “half doors” and high back seats. But of course, the side and hood graphics are the real stars of the show here. Original late-’80s flair on an open-top Jeep… what’s not to love?
