A “more” perfect supercar
America’s favorite supercar is on its 70th lap around the sun, and with that, arrives the newest generation of the coupe’s performance-driven Z06 model. The Corvette is one of the longest-running nameplates of any car on the road today, and the Z06 only builds on top of that iconic architecture. With a specially crafted V8 engine and an exclusive aerodynamic body kit, the Z06 is sure to break necks and steal hearts across town. Bashar is the first host to share this all-American beauty on Turo, so let’s take a deeper look into what makes our February car of the month so extra special.

The Corvette is the quintessential American supercar. Although the Vette has performance chops that rival exotics like the Porsche 911 GT3 and Lamborghini Huracán, the roadster is truly focused on performance rather than ultimate luxury, making it more affordable to book. The newest generation Corvette debuted in 2020 with a mid-engine format and an entirely new V8 engine with 495 hp and a sub-three second zero-to-60 mph time. But America’s rear-wheel-drive sweetheart has even more to offer.

The Z06 performance variant showcases a radically enhanced 5.5L naturally-aspirated V8 engine propelled by an eight-speed transmission that reaches 670 hp and a whopping zero-to-60 mph time of 2.6 seconds. Let’s put that in perspective. The Z06 can propel you forward at 1.22 lateral g-force, similar to that of Tesla’s Model S Plaid. The competition-style, reinforced bucket seats will no doubt come in handy.

An ultra-responsive dual clutch transmission also provides quick shifting and more customizability for the driver, enabling you to reach high speeds even quicker. And with 460 lb-ft of torque and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, the Z06 also hugs corners with finesse. Yet, what you’ll notice most is the engine growl. Chevy engineers spent countless hours fine-tuning its roar, which sounds more like a ferocious living beast than anything man-made.

By the end of the year, this beast will have a hybrid sibling: the E-Ray. As the first electrified Vette, the hybrid E-Ray will feature bonkers performance stats similar to the Z06, but will take advantage of its expanded driving range and be tailored for the longer commute or highway joy ride. As a result, this newest Z06 has been freed to focus purely on performance, while the E-Ray will be the other top-rung Corvette for drivers looking more for a grand tourer.
