Upon picking up the vehicle, the interior smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. Immediately after starting the vehicle, the check engine light was already illuminated. After driving a short distance, the vehicle began throwing a mechanical warning/code and was clearly not fit or safe to be driven on the road.
At that point, I had no confidence in the safety or reliability of the vehicle. I contacted support and was informed there was no replacement vehicle available. Because of this, I missed my trip entirely and was left without transportation.
What is most frustrating is that despite the unsafe condition of the vehicle and the complete disruption to my travel plans, Turo did nothing meaningful to compensate me for the inconvenience, lost time, and failed rental experience.
This vehicle should never have been listed as available for rental in its condition. A car with active warning lights and mechanical issues should have been removed from service before being handed off to a customer.
I am requesting that this issue be formally reviewed and that appropriate compensation be provided for the failed rental experience, missed trip, and unsafe vehicle condition.

The car was so fun to drive. I would rent it again. The car was clean and the hosts were extremely nice and helpful. Was there for anything I needed.
