Should something happen to the suspension and body, this can void Rivian warranty. If you will be using the cross bars, bed, or ratchet straps, these are used at your own peril. Light scratches inside the bed will not be an issue, but deep grooves in the trimming or body panels will be assessed damage charges.
If I charge at a Tesla Supercharger, how do I pay?
The Superchargers charge to my Rivian account. Guests will be charged for Supercharger use after charges have been finalized with Tesla. Backup receipts will be provided as standard Turo procedure.
The Rivian is requesting I stop to charge for a close location. Is it required?
The Rivian is preprogrammed to have a minimum charge to your arrival destination. This can be changed on a one time setting. Locate the setting icon once a destination has been selected. You can change the minimum charge to arrival. Please plan accordingly as you will need to charge soon after arriving. However, I wouldn't go below 30 miles of range. Depending on weather, your range can drop overnight.
I've never used an electric car. Are there things I need to know?
Yes, the Rivian has regenerative braking and one pedal driving. This means when the accelerator is released, the motors provide resistance and will slow down the car like a brake. Brake lights are automatically shown to rear drivers and can be confirmed on the 3d view of the dash. One pedal driving is very quickly easy to learn. The regenerative braking is light but gets more aggressive as you let go of the accelerator. The brake pedal should still be used if the regenerative braking isn't enough. Once at a stop, the Rivian will stay stopped with brake lights on until the accelerator is pressed again. Your brain quickly adjusts to this. I've included plenty of charging advice, but also be aware the the range shown on the dash is typically never true. A good rule of thumb is to assume you only have 75% of the estimated range. However, if you use the navigation, the guess work is taken out for you. Just follow the map instructions. It'll even tell you how long to charge.
How do I remove the cross bars?
A key is located in the car and the location can be provided by request. If you know the crossbars will need to be removed for your journey, please let me know ahead of time and I will remove prior to your trip. However, if the cross bars are needed during your trip and also need to be removed, please message me. i will provide detailed instructions.
What happens if I run out of charge on my trip?
Luckily, the Rivian has a lot of built in features to remind you and help you plan your trips to avoid this issue. However, in the unlikely event that you run out of charge on a trip. You will need to have the Rivian towed to the nearest charger to proceed. Please reach out to me if you are located between San Antonio and Austin as there's a chance I may be able to help. Due to there being plenty of safeguards and warnings, these costs will be on the customer to pay. If the car is abandoned without a charge, you will be charged a towing, charging, and possible damage fee.
How do I remove the bed cover?
Please request prior to your trip, and I can remove prior to your trip. However, if you need the cover during your trip and only need to remove temporarily, the pieces slide out sequentially. Please store in the storage bag located in the gear tunnel storage area. Each panel is stored with a protective cover. This is a 5 minute or less removal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raGA8aEMyfM
Can I login to Spotify and Apple Carplay?
Yes, there are two driver profiles. One is my own, and the other is Turo. Please make sure you are on the Turo profile prior to setting up your login. Additionally, Bluetooth is also available. I will try to log everyone out after each rental, but in the off chance I don't, please be mindful of other Spotify accounts and ruining their algorithm. Please log out ASAP.
How do I pay at non Tesla chargers?
Most have the ability to use credit card payments. A good resource is the app "Plugshare." This will let you know which chargers are compatible (CCS1 (fast), J1772 (level 2), and NACS (Fast and level 2)) and the rating of each charger. It will also include information for each charger including plug type, reliability, and credit card usage. However, it is recommended to use the Rivian map for charging as it has pre-selected compatible chargers. Using Plugshare can verify if credit card is not accepted. Most accept credit cards. Proprietary chargers for manufacturers may not.
What happens if I damage the car?
Please reference Turo's rental guidelines. The customer is highly encouraged to inspect the car during check in. Please take not of any damage and document through the check in process using pictures. If damage occurs during your trip, please disclose ASAP with pictures. Turo will provide guidelines for damage that has been occurred. This is my personal car that I do not use due to having a work vehicle, and I want to keep it in best shape as possible. Please be mindful of that.
