Although Candice is very nice and communication was fairly good, this rental was not worth the cost and I essentially ruined my family vacation. Pick up and drop off at the FTL airport was seamless and the best part of the whole rental. I could see at pickup that the windshield was cracked and the car had 41,000+ miles on the odometer, with a service sticker reminder for 15,000miles (when I asked about this, Candice said the car was recently serviced but the mechanic didn’t change the sticker). We drove this car two hours in relatively slow, quiet highway traffic to the keys for vacation. Soon after we arrived, storms hit our area and the trouble began. The soft top in the jeep is not connected to multiple cross bars, causing a parachute effect and allowing wind, rain and lots of road noise into the cabin. This was tolerable until we went to key west during a hurricane landfall. I reached out to both Turo and Candice and neither offered a better option than me having to drive 4 hours round trip back to the airport to return the car and hopefully get a new one, or wait for the car to be towed and face the same scenario. This was a nightmare, the vehicle’s safety was questionable, the entire reason we rented the car (the soft top) was unusable and unless Turo changes their policy & implements better customer service, I will no longer be renting with them. Simone MUST be responsible for maintaining these vehicles safely.
