Description

The way driving was meant to be! This beautiful Model X with enhanced autopilot is spacious, gets around 180 miles on a full charge*, and fits up to 7. The autopilot makes interstate driving a breeze and the convenience features abound. With the dual motor and all-wheel drive, this is the quickest SUV around. Perfect for day trips around central Kentucky or long trips to save on gas. Classic Tesla comfort and efficiency! Note: Pay-per-use charging at Superchargers. Guest pays for Supercharging at the end of the trip. Supercharging on interstate trips will add time to travel. See https://www.tesla.com/trips to help with planning. *Please Note- range and charging speeds are negatively impacted during winter/cold temperatures, driving habits, AC usage, and number of passengers. Please request more information if renting during the winter season.

Faqs

  • Do I need to return the car with a certain charge?

Yes! The expectation is to bring the car back with at least 80% charged without paying any fees. There is a supercharger 10 minutes away from the address for the car.

  • How long does it take to charge the car?

Depends on the charger! The free/cheap ones that you see at hotels or parking lots can take hours upon hours to charge the car. The Tesla Superchargers can charge the whole car in 50 minutes depending on the speed (which is variable).

  • How can I make sure I don't run out of charge?

Whenever traveling, make sure to use the navigation system. It will tell you when/where/how long to stop on a trip. Do NOT take the traditional gas-car approach where you fill up, drive till it's close to empty, and then charge. The battery charges at different speeds based on station and how full it is. The car will take care of those logistical items if you tell it where you are going. This is crucial to being successful on road trips.

  • Where do I charge?

http://plugshare.com will show you any different type of charger. Make sure to tell it that you are looking at only Tesla-chargers; although the car will have an adapter with it to use for most chargers. There is a regular 12V plug-in charger in the trunk of the car. If there is a way to plug it up overnight, you should. It will only get about 10% overnight, but it'll keep the battery warmer/charging and give you and extra easy boost. Please make sure to return the cord to the trunk!

  • What percentage should I charge the car to?

These older models are NOT designed to sit with a full battery. If the car is sitting idle, do not have it above 80%. If you are traveling and just stopping to charge, trust the navigation system, which will rarely ever have you charge above 85%. Not only for the sake of battery health, but the charging speed drops significantly after a certain point, which means you could be at the Supercharger a long time if you try to get it high.

  • How do I pay for my own charging?

If you use a free charger (use http://plugshare.com to find some), then you are good to go. If you use a TESLA SUPERCHARGER, then the car gets charged for that and you pay that back through the Turn app at the END of the trip. You will be able to see the data on how much it costs as you charge. NOTE: You are responsible for all Tesla Supercharger AND Idle fees. Please unplug the car once it is charged to avoid these extra charges.

  • What happens if I drain the battery till it's dead?

You will need to contact Turo roadside assistance to help tow the car and jump the battery so that it will charge again. Please note- you will likely be responsible for replacing the car's 12V battery in this situation (anywhere from $100-$250 depending on the situation). Please do your best to keep the car from dying! It will ruin your trip and add a lot of trouble/cost.

  • What if I am taking the car out of town?

Please let the host know your travel plans so you can get an appropriate estimate for travel time and charging stops.

If you are looking to get a few for the tesla book from Taylor! He was super helpful as this was my first time driving one . I had issues with my timing and charging and he was very understanding about it. Car was clean and in good condition. I give it a 4 only bc driving all electric added about a hr extra onto my trip so something you definitely need to plan for when driving one. Other then that no issues with Taylor.

Excellent customer service. Host was accessible and accommodating. Unfortunately the car had problems with range. This affected my itinerary as I could not get more than 100 miles per full charge.
