Guidelines

If I’m delivering the car to the airport, please be prepared to pay for parking on your way out; I’ll cover the parking fee on the return. Please leave the parking ticket on the wireless charger. Lost parking tickets are very expensive! A few important guidelines: No racing! No off-roading! No towing of any kind unless it’s an approved accessory rented from me. Use adaptive cruise control and Highway Assist responsibly—always stay alert and follow the system’s on-screen prompts. Thank you for taking care of the vehicle, and enjoy your trip!

FAQs

  • Can I offroad?

You are permitted to drive on dirt or gravel roads only to reach your end destination, such as a cabin or campsite. Off-roading or Jeeping-type activities are prohibited in accordance with Turo’s policies.

  • How can I charge this vehicle?

Charging your Rivian is straightforward and convenient. Using the in-vehicle navigation, you can easily locate nearby chargers, including Rivian Adventure Network sites, Tesla Superchargers, and other compatible stations. The vehicle is equipped with both a CCS1 port and a J1772 port, allowing for a wide range of charging options. Additionally, it includes two NACS (North American Charging Standard) adapters: Small Adapter: For Tesla Destination Chargers or other L2 chargers Large Adapter: For Tesla Superchargers When using the Rivian or Tesla networks, simply plug in and charge; I’ll send you an invoice after the trip. For other networks, you may need to use their app or a credit card to pay. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

  • How do I use adaptive cruise control or Highway Assist?

To activate Adaptive Cruise Control, pull down once on the shifting stalk. On supported highways, pull down once more to enable Highway Assist. Remember to keep your hands on the wheel and follow the on-screen instructions for safe operation.

  • Should I charge the vehicle to 100%?

Normally, you won’t need to charge the vehicle to 100%, as the last 20% of charging can double the time you spend at the charger. Charging from 10-80% at a Level 3 (L3) charger is quick, while the final stretch from 80-100% slows down significantly. To save time, it’s ideal to charge only while the speed is fast and aim to keep charging sessions to 15-20 minutes before continuing your trip. The vehicle will tell you when you've charged enough to keep going. That said, there are some exceptions: Your accommodations offer free charging, and you plan to drive long distances. You need more range than what an 80% charge can support. You’re planning for a remote route with limited charging options.

  • How far can I go in this Rivian?

This model offers an approximate range of 340 miles on a full charge. By switching to Conserve Mode, you might extend the range by another 20-30 miles. Keep in mind that EVs perform best in city driving conditions and have lower efficiency during straight freeway driving. For primarily freeway trips, expect a realistic range of about two-thirds of the usual distance. Use the in-vehicle navigation app to plan your route—it will automatically include necessary charging stops for a smooth journey.
