Guidelines

-No vaping or smoking in the car. -No pets. -Turo charges an additional $10 convenience fee on top of the cleaning fee if the car is not returned in the condition you received it. Please dust off as much sand, dirt and mud off your feet and belongings before entering the car to avoid “extra cleaning fees.” QUESTION: Will I still be charged an additional Excessive Cleaning Fee if I pay for the Post Trip Cleaning? Answer: YES. Post trip cleaning is for washing the car, light vacuuming and regular cleaning. Leaving trash, empty bottles, sunscreen, excessive sand, mud, dirt and/or debris will be the reason we will charge an additional $100 excessive cleaning fee. - Be aware when parking on sand or on non-paved areas that the car may get stuck if the sand or ground is soft. Towing fees will be the Guests cost. - Park in designated areas. There is a lot of problems on the news about visitors parking all over the road on their way to Hana when they want to see an attraction. *Parking tickets are $35 but the County of Maui also adds on a $200 surcharge fee and it will be charged to the Guest. PLEASE respect “Private Property” signs and not park on that property or block the entry. * Do NOT CROSS high water running across the road. IT IS DANGEROUS! If you encounter a road that is “washed out,” TURN AROUND and take the safest route available. -Avoid parking where the ocean water (waves) will splash on the car. Salt water causes all kinds of damage to the car. -If the main highway is closed due to a fire, emergency or accident, it is best if you wait in traffic or wait to travel when the road opens up. Driving the back roads during a road closure is very dangerous if you’re not familiar with the one lane roads and how to navigate a one way road with traffic coming and going both ways. Usually, the locals who live in those areas or the police close off the back roads to alleviate congesting the roads and not allowing the residents of that area to return home. - Most of the beauty and scenic points on the Road to Hana are found between Paia Town and the Seven Sacred Pools. Most rental companies do not recommend or allow their cars to be taken on the “backside” past Hana because the roads are not paved and are very rutted. Our car is NOT an AWD (all wheel drive) nor is it 4WD so please drive on paved roads. Any damage to our vehicle will be the Guests expense. - the road North past Kahakuloa town is windy, one lane and rutted at some places. When two cars reach a single lane portion of the road, one car will need to reverse to a wider part of the road. One car will need to hug the mountainside or park at the edge of a cliff side. Please be aware that there are some locals there who do not welcome tourists. Also, If you need towing or roadside assistance in this area, it will most likely take a while to get to you and it will be costly for you. - At the time of pick up we will need to verify the VALID drivers license of the primary driver on the reservation and take a picture of it and a picture of the driver holding the license next to their face and add it to the check in photos.   • What happens if you do not fill the gas prior to returning the car?

    If you did not prepay the gas, expect me to send you an incidental charge for gas PLUS Turo will automatically add a $10 fee that Turo calls an “Inconvenience Fee”

  • What happens if I am having a hard time with the technical gadgets in the car?

    There is an owners manual in the glove compartment and you can also contact me through the Turo app. We can figure it out from there.

  • What is excessive sand?

    Please dust yourself and your belongings off prior to entering the car. Leave the beach at the beach. You will know excessive sand when you see it in your car because you know that pile of sand was not there when you got the car from us.

  • Why is the car oily or greasy?

    If you have on sunscreen, a lot of sunscreen place your beach towel on your chair proper to entering the car to sit in it. That should alleviate the slippery, greasy feeling. Also note that you do not want to sit on sunscreen with your nice, dry clothes on.

Absolutely the best first time Turo experience with Glen and Mary Ann! They were very accommodating and made the pick up and drop off very simple and easy. Their response was always super quick & was always on point. The Atlas was brand new, in excellent condition, super clean and a very comfortable drive for upto 7 people.
