Great responsive and caring host! We were first-time Turo users and were a bit nervous trying something new in a pinch, but we really needed a car for the week and were unable to find any rental cars on the island. One thing that really helped me relax was how responsive the host was to my messages -- all communication was prompt and she didn't mind answering all my questions. I had to make two modifications to the trip (the pickup and then dropoff time) that were my fault, but she had no problems with the edits. We did need to take photo of ourselves with DL which I must have missed as being a requirement. I did call our auto insurance to ask if our coverage in this situation would be the same as if using a rental car. They said it would be, but recommended adding one thing (loss of use, which was cheap). However, I admit I was still a bit nervous about insurance. It was obvious the car was new in the photos, but it wasn't until the second day of driving that I noticed the mileage marker was low enough that we could easily be driving on the second tank of gas! So that added a little extra nervousness as anything different in the brand new car would obviously be our fault (and we have a young kid). Thankfully, it was a completely normal trip. We did keep beach towels on our seats to catch some sand. The crosstrek was a great car. Certainly depends on what you are used to driving, but while the performance may not impress, it's overall nicer and more fun to drive than a typical rental car. The luggage capacity might be a concern for some -- we were family of 3 and were certainly using the space in the backseat (which was fine for us). I think we drove over 400 miles on one tank -- only had to fill up once for the week. We did make it to Hana and it was a great drive! Another thing to consider is getting yourself to/from the pickup location. Taxi ride from airport to location was pretty easy ($20 with tip in this case), but getting back to airport was different story. We gave ourselves 20 minutes, but the ride apps didn't have enough drivers and taxi was estimating over 30 minutes. At this point, and I'm sure she doesn't want this to happen again, Vicki let us drive the car to the airport and leave it in short-term parking. This worked great for us and we are very appreciative (though the airport lines were short and we ended up having plenty of time).
