DO NOT rent from Lucky - it will be a huge liability and maybe even ruin your trip.
When we picked up the vehicle, we noticed a lot of things wrong with it, but continued on because the car at least worked and we’re not ones to complain. The passenger sun visor was totally missing, one of the back seat head rests was broken and wouldn’t stay upright (so someone couldn’t use that seat - the head rest was laying down where your back would rest), the CarPlay wasn’t working, and it was totally dirty and cosmetic damage in lots of places.
But this is when our trip really took a turn - we were told to return to the pick-up location because the front passenger seat wouldn’t return to the driving position after moving it forward for our third passenger to get into the back seat (2 door jeep). We tried everything for about half an hour and were finally told to come back to the pickup location (a 2 hour detour from our hotel) Lucky disclosed in-person that the vehicle has had a broken seat for a long time (I also saw in the comments from a year ago that the seat was broken back then) and she said they’ve been putting tape over the lever so it doesn’t get used but the last customers must’ve removed it while Lucky was out of town. She miraculously got the seat “fixed” (she must know the trick with the broken seat) but told us “I guess take the black Jeep instead.”
We were driving the replacement jeep to the hotel from the pickup location and the engine temperature warning light came on. We pulled over and messaged the host, who told us to immediately stop the vehicle. We were on the side of the road at a sketchy area, finally were told to continue driving while blasting the heat. The vehicle was never drivable after that.
We spent our last day on vacation dealing with maintenance and eventually Lucky hysterically screaming at me on the phone, calling me a liar about the broken seat (I don’t know why she thinks it’s not broken when she has to put tape over the lever for people to not use it) when I finally expressed how disappointed I’ve been spending the last 2 days of our vacation dealing with their 2 broken rental cars.
It really made me nervous when they started calling and texted me on my personal phone directly instead of using the Turo app - I know I don’t have a chance legally to request a refund because they were so sneaky with their communication.
The greatest part; they never once apologized for any of this. Not even for the inconvenience.
They never offered a refund for the 2 days spent with 2 recurring broken vehicles.
We ended up taking an Uber from Lāhainā to the airport.
Per your conversation with my team, it is evident that you are retaliating against me. We also have a recording of your conversation with us. Will send the evidence to turo. We accommodated all of your requests, even at the cost of our earnings, to ensure you were taken care of. At no point we assisted you with everything you needed until you returned to your terminal. You have chosen to misrepresent the situation. The least you could have done is show respect and be truthful.

Car was in relatively poor condition. It was dirty, broken parts on the inside, and heavily worn. Drove fine and was a good vehicle otherwise.
The jeep tires were recently just changed with the new tires. The tire shop forgot to put 1 of the TPMs sensor. So as soon as the car comes home. We send it back to get it fix. Patrick returns the car early in the morning and never send us clear instructions and poor pictures of the car. So we have to charge him for the parking ticket coz it's too much. As expected, he never likes to pay.
