Description

** ELECTRIC CAR ** !!! LEVEL 2 AUTONOMOUS !!! ++ 250 MILE RANGE ++ -> 75+ kW CHARGING <- This is a 2019 Kia Niro EV with the EX Premium trim package and the Launch Edition option. The Niro EV is so new that Turo does not yet have the Niro EV model nor any of the Niro EV model trim packages included in their database. This vehicle is a well-equipped, modern car that also happens to be a long range electric car. The long range, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist (plus SiriusXM Mostly Music and SiriusXM Travel Link) make this car a pleasure to drive on long road trips. The responsiveness and handling (plus SiriusXM Traffic) make this car fun and easy to drive around town. And large storage capacity makes this car ideal for all that luggage when coming in from out of town or just going to see the relatives. See how the 2019 Kia Niro EV makes a myth of EV range anxiety by renting for a road trip. This car will be cleaned inside and out and disinfected before each trip.

Parking details

There is plenty of parking space on the street in front of my house so leaving your car parked in front of my house while you rent my car would not be a problem as long as your car is legally registered. The street is relatively quiet and safe but I can still not be held accountable for any damage to or theft from your car if you park your car on the street in front of my house. Parking of Recreational Vehicles and construction vehicles overnight is not allowed in my neighborhood and may result in those vehicles getting ticketed and/or towed. I do like to meet my renters in person but I work during week and I may have to perform remote deliveries to accommodate your preferred rental dates and times.

Guidelines

No Smoking - A $150 cleaning fee plus repair costs of any burn damage will be accessed for evidence of smoking in the car. No pets please. Evidence of pet occupancy will result in post cleaning fees.

Faqs

  • Does this car have a gasoline engine?

No - This is an all electric vehicle that can be charged at local DC Fast Charging and public EV charging stations or anywhere there is a 120V wall outlet. A depleted battery will charge in about one hour using a CCS fast charger, in about nine hours using a public EV charger and in about forty hours using a 120V wall outlet. The car comes with a 120V outlet charging cord and the locations of public CCS fast chargers and EV chargers can found using the PlugShare app or website.

  • What is the range on a single charge?

The Niro EV is one of longest range electric vehicles on the market today, surpassing the real world range of many of the Tesla models. The original EPA rated combined city/highway range is 239 miles but operators have reported achieving this range at sustained full highway speeds and What Car estimated the range at 253 miles in a real world range test, https://insideevs.com/news/357754/audi-etron-bmw-i3-tesla-range-ranking/. A renter can expect a usable range of about 200+ miles with a continuous speed of 75 mph, at least 300 miles of range at a continuous speed of 60 mph and a usable range of 450+ miles at a continuous speed of 40 mph. Stop and go traffic, excessive speed, head winds, elevation change, operation in cold weather and the use of climate control can dramatically reduce range. Using heated seats instead of the heater during extreme cold weather makes the battery last much longer.

  • Does the car have to be returned fully charged?

Return the car with at least 90% charge. Any return with between 50% and 90% charge will be subject to a $10 fee. Any return with between 0% and 50% charge will be subject to a $20 fee. The closest CCS fast charger to the home return location is at the Walgreens at 4520 Western Center Blvd., Fort Worth, TX 76137. Purchase prepaid EV charging during booking to return the car hassle free without worrying about charging up after your trip.

  • Does the car need to be returned clean?

Return the car as clean as it was received so that it will be ready to rent out again with only mandatory disinfection. Any return requiring "Moderate Cleaning" as defined on Turo's "Cleaning and disinfection policy" webpage will be subject to a $50 cleaning fee. 'Heavy cleaning", "Severe cleaning", "Pet hair" and "Smoking" in the car would be subject to additional fees. Purchase post-trip cleaning during booking to return the car hassle free without worrying about cleaning fees associated with "Moderate cleaning" after your trip.

  • Is there a charge for late returns?

Turo requires the host to report any return more than 30 minutes late to maintain insurance eligibility. Any return more than 30 minutes late is subject to a full day’s rental fee. Any return more than 120 minutes late is subject to a $20 late fee in addition to the one day rental fee. If you are going to be late, request an extension through Turo and make sure you have plenty of time to return within the extension. There is a 120 minute buffer on daily rentals so an extension could keep you from having to pay an extra day, but even paying for a full day on an extension is better than paying an extra $20 because you didn’t communicate that you were going to be late. Charging trouble is not an acceptable reason for a late return. If it looks like you are going to be late for any reason then request an extension. The last day of the rental can be extended up to 26 hours without any additional rental fees.

  • How do guests charge the car?

Guests that rent this car are responsible for knowing how to charge an electric vehicle, how to find charging locations within the available vehicle range and how to estimate charging times at charging locations. The host for this car will be available by cell phone or text to answer questions on vehicle charging, vehicle performance and charging locations. Guests that deplete the high voltage battery while in transit will be responsible for contacting Turo to have the car towed to nearest charging station (up to 50 miles) and the guests will be responsible for all other expenses related to time delays due to depleted battery. When going to an unfamiliar public charging station CALL FIRST!!! Don't expect the station to be functioning or usable just because the station is listed on a website or app. Find out from the station operator if the charger has an EV plug (not Tesla plug) or a CCS plug, if the charger is functioning and what the billing options for the charger are before proceeding to the station. 2019 Kia Niro EV has a 64 kWh high voltage battery and comes with a standard 120V, 1.5 kW charging cable(gives 5 mph of range per hour). Up to 7.2 kW charging (gives 25 mph of range per hour) possible from EV plugs at DFW local public EVgo, ChargePoint and Blink charging stations and up to 47 kW charging (gives up to 150 mph of range per hour), depending on State Of Charge, possible from CCS plugs at public 50 kW fast charging stations and up to 77 kW charging (gives up to 250 mph of range per hour) possible from CCS plugs at public 100+ kW ultra-fast charging stations. EVgo and ChargePoint RFID cards are included with rental for charging convenience at for fee charging stations (RFID cards must be returned with vehicle). Guests will have to pay charging fees after rental return. EVgo currently charges $0.27/minute at local fast chargers and ChargePoint fees vary by location. Charging fees on the RFID cards will be passed through to guests with no additional processing fee. EVgo has limits on fast charging times. Between 6 AM and 8 PM charging on EVgo chargers is limited to 45 minutes and between 8 pm and 6 AM charging is limited to 60 minutes. If additional charging is needed after an EVgo charger stops simply restart the charger.

  • How do guest find out where to charge the car?

Use the PlugShare app or refer to the PlugShare.com website to identify charging locations. Many hotels offer free overnight EV charging. Vehicle location and battery capacity will be monitored through the Kia Access app on all bookings so the host will be able to help guests find a charging location if needed.

  • How do guests pay for toll fees?

Toll fees incurred by guests through Toll Tag will be passed along from host to guests with no additional charge once the vehicle is returned. Free deliveries to airports include airport parking fees. Airport parking fees incurred by host through Toll Tag will not be passed along to guests as tolls.

  • How do guests deal with airport parking fees?

The car has a toll tag. Simply pull up to the airport parking gate with the “T” in a circle and the gate will open as soon as the system reads the license plate and verifies the toll tag. The host will pay airport toll tag charges for airport parking.

  • How do one-way and long distance deliveries work?

A custom one-way "extra" can be created for the guest to have the car delivered or picked up from any location the guest chooses as long as either the delivery or return location is at the cars home location and as long as the total one-way driving distance does not exceed 1,000 miles and is within the continental United States. The guest simply needs to book the car for the dates the guest wants the car and send a Turo message to the host stating that the guest would like a custom one-way "extra" added to the guest's trip. The host will create a custom one-way extra for guest with specific delivery and return locations that the guest can then add the extra to their trip. Extras can not be added to a trip after the trip has already started. The cost of the extra will be calculated based on $120 plus $1.40 per one-way road miles. Minimum one-way "extra" is $300. Long distance deliveries are also available when the guest adds two (2) one-way extras to the trip, one extra for delivery and one extra for return. One-way and long distance delivery trips take a considerable amount of planning on the part of the host. Guests need to identify that they would like to add one-way or long distance delivery to their bookings at least two weeks before the trip starts. Due to time constraints or conflicting obligations the host may not be able accommodate the guest's request for a custom "extra" at which time the guest will have the option of cancelling their booking.
