Description

Naples/Collier County beach 🏖 parking permit is included! The A/C blows cold! (A/C was serviced in April 2024.) Get into this Jeep Grand Cherokee if you’re ready for some fun in the Florida sun. To set expectations the vehicle is reliable for getting you from point A to point B with out the frills of a newer model, it’s a 2012 after all so it has its quirks. The interior is equipped with all-weather floor mats and cloth seat covers. This vehicle is well maintained and ready to go where you want to go! Book with me and you’ll get a high level of service, convenience, and flexibility. I’ll work with you whether you want to extend or shorten your trip. If you have any questions, I’ll do my best to guide you in the right direction.

Unfortunately our first bad experience rating a car through TURO. Thankfully, the co-host we communicated with was understanding and easy to work with. However, as far as the car itself. It is not in good shape. As soon as we drove out of the airport we drove about 3 miles and decided to turn around and take the car back and rent a car through the airport rental agency. We did not feel comfortable driving our family and children in the car with how it was driving. First, the car has many dings and scratches and has seat covers and doesn’t smell great. All things that are not a huge deal, but the pictures were deceiving of that. The car has 200k miles. Every time you stop the car and then accelerate there is some kind of slip and click noise. The steering seemed very loose. The car was shaking if you went faster than 50 mph. Also lots of small things inside the car. Buttons don’t work, the AC isn’t great. The vents in the front you can’t even move to direct the air in the direction you want.

Jorge was a great co host. The previous renter had smoked in the car but he made sure to get it detailed and waited to make sure I was ok with the car or would offer me another vehicle. Communication with him was great. The Jeep has close to 200,000 miles. The passenger window does not roll down, has car seat covers to cover the wear on seats, and when you go to take off it has a noise that’s not very comforting. Key fob is faulty, meaning sometimes it unlocks sometimes it don’t, you can’t push the button for trunk release you have to open driver door. It kept unlocking itself after I locked it.

I’ll start out by saying I’ve never given anything but a 5 star review for 10+ vehicles I’ve rented through Turo, until now. This vehicle is comparable, but definitely worse and less maintained, than my first vehicle I bought at 16 for just $1000 back in ‘07. I’d give zero stars if I could, and I’ll try to go in chronological order for the reasoning.

1. I never received check in instructions. I had to message and ask for it 30 min before my rental started, which prompted Jorge (nice guy) to call and tell me (while I was walking to baggage claim with my baby) that the other guy forgot to put the car seat I ordered in there. He said they’re on their way to drop it off and they actually got it there before I got to the car, so no problem, but definitely not a call you want to receive.
2. I then had to text Jorge again and ask for instructions to find the car.
3. The car is 12 years old & 197k+ miles so don’t expect much. It has seat covers covering everything and definitely shows its age. There are also multiple floor mats stacked on top of each other, which is odd.
4. When you are at a stop and press the gas, it does a grinding/sticking thing for a couple seconds before it actually goes.
5. The car LEAKS OIL. Not just a little, it leaked all over my mom’s new driveway (where we stayed) and we had to keep cleaning it up the best we could.
6. BIGGEST FAIL: they market ‘cold AC’ on this listing. The car blows cold air if it’s less than 70 degrees out. Anything higher than that and it does NOT blow cold air. I had a 16 month old baby and we had to drive 1 hour after the beach in a hot car in just 85 degree weather. It was a nightmare. We tried blasting the AC and nothing worked. We should’ve just opened the windows because once we got back to the house, it felt cooler outside than in the car. The AC needs to be looked at and/or recharged. It definitely does not blow cold air in normal Florida heat and that is false marketing.
7. The TABS are EXPIRED!! The tabs expired in November of 2023. It is now April of 2024 and I’m risking getting a ticket driving this crap car. I am fairly certain that’s against Turo rules and regulations and will be reporting it to Turo.
8. The car was dirty when we got to it (inside and out - definitely wasn’t cleaned before my reservation) and did not have ANY windshield wiper fluid to get all the bugs off either. Bone dry.
9. The key fob buttons don’t really work. The button to open the back tailgate definitely doesn’t work and it has a mind of its own. We found the car twice with the back door randomly opened (by itself). We even were in my mom’s garage once and it just opened on its own and no one was even by it. No clue what that could be - faulty sensor maybe?

If you want a car to MAYBE (unreliably) get you from point A to point B for a reasonable price while leaving a trail of oil everywhere you park and risking getting a ticket for expired tabs, rent this car. Otherwise, get something else!!! Even if you have to spend more. I would never in a million years rent this car again or recommend it. This car is a terrible representation of Turo and should not even be allowed to be rented on this platform.
