Description

This is the PERFECT car for Alaska. Which is why- when you come up here- it will seem like at least 50% of the cars on the road are Subaru Outbacks. Its AWD, and has incredible clearance. 17" wheels, heated seats and the best high traction snow tires on the market during the winter season This super sporty Outback will let you drive with style and safety in Fairbanks. Also provided is an emergency kit with heat packs, jumper cables for winter travel as well as Eyesight Technology for safety, and GPS tracking. The Outback also has a massive trunk. 32.5 cubic feet. About 50% larger than most SUVs Turo does not have parking agreements with either Fairbanks International Airport OR the Alaska Railroad. Conducting Turo pickups/drop-offs on their properties is not permitted. Pick up will be at our local airport park and fly. With free 24 shuttle service from both Fairbanks airports and the rail station. Keys will be at the front desk, and staff will check your ID. Details upon reservation. The chances of you busting a windshield or a tire on the Dalton, Denali or Edgerton Highways is 7 in 10. You could also easily be stranded out on these roads for days with a busted tire, as there are no services. NO GRAVEL HIGHWAY TRAVEL. This is a violation of TURO’S terms of use and can lead to thousands of dollars in fines. If you are thinking about going up to the Arctic Circle- or farther North. DO NOT BOOK THIS CAR. Unless you are cool with a few thousand dollars in fines, on top of a few hundred in towing bills, and another $2k in repair charges. None of which will be covered, because you violated the Turo terms of use. PLEASE READ THE FAQS/CAR GUIDELINES. Of all my vehicles, guests seem to have the most trouble with the Outback. Like leaving lights on, and finding the battery dead. It also has a myriad of safety sensors. If they are blocked by anything, the trunk will not want to open

Parking details

The car will be at the hotel/airport park and fly. It's 3 minutes from the airport. Several of the reviews have noted the ease of pickup and return of my vehicles. As soon as you arrive, call their 24 hour shuttle. They will pick you up at the airport, and bring you to the hotel to collect the keys. You can also take a 3 minute cab from the airport. The keys will be under your name and they will check your ID. Car return also at the park and fly. I'll take care of all parking and shuttle fees.

Guidelines

NO GRAVEL HIGHWAY TRAVEL. The chances of you busting a windshield or a tire on the Dalton, Denali or Edgerton Highways is 7 in 10. I used to work for the Pipeline, and I got cracks in windshields three times in my work truck. A new windshield in this car will run you $500 as it has eyesight technology. If you get a flat tire, you will also be stuck in the wilderness for days, as there are no services, and Alaskans are pretty skeptical of unprepared tourists. Dogs welcome, but please notify me ahead of time if you are bringing a pet on your trip. Return the car clean. I mean NO HAIR. Or a $50+ cleaning fee will be administered. No smoking. Fill with premium unleaded Like all new Outbacks, this one, with the eyesight technology, has a myriad of safety sensors. If you are standing directly behind the car, or if the sensors in the bumper/back are covered in snow, it may give you an error beep, and not want to open. Use the keyfob, or trunk opening on the dashboard instead.

Faqs

  • Can I drive on the Dalton, Denali Highway, to the Arctic Circle, or Circle Hot Springs?

Absolutely not. The chances of you busting a windshield or a tire on the Dalton, Denali or Edgerton Highways is 7 in 10. I used to work for the Pipeline, and I got cracks in windshields three times in my work truck. Honestly- the Dalton Highway is flat and boring. The Richardson is spectacularly beautiful, as is the Denali area. A new windshield in this car will run you $500 as it has eyesight technology. If you get a flat tire, you will also be stuck in the wilderness for days, as there are no services, and Alaskans are pretty skeptical of unprepared tourists. Chena Hot Springs road is fine. Although I'd be very careful out there. That road is very dangerous, and the locals drive it very fast.

  • Why is there an electric plug in front of the car?

Like every other vehicle in Fairbanks, the Outback is equipped with an engine block and oil pan heater, as well as a battery trickle charger. We plug our cars in at 10 degrees or lower to keep our engines from freezing.

  • Why won't the trunk open/error beeps?

Like all new Outbacks, this one, with the eyesight technology, has a myriad of safety sensors. If you are standing directly behind the car, or if the sensors in the bumper/back are covered in snow, it may give you an error beep, and not want to open. Use the keyfob, or trunk opening on the dashboard instead.

Excellent instruction and communication throughout. The vehicle made traveling through unexpected winter storms a whole lot more bearable, even for the unseasoned.
