Description

PLEASE READ; Found replacement bumper, and has new brakes :) 10-5-2021 PLEASE do not select “Denver, CO 80249” location (your request will not be responded to if you do), as we do not have the car at that location. There is a delivery fee for this a car you are renting. To avoid Airport Fees, in additions to the delivery fee, select “Denver Airport Center” located at 7030 Tower Road, Denver CO Denver, instead of Denver International Airport since the airport requires that Turo collect and remit a fee for all airport reservations. Car will be located at airport shuttle lot for pickup and drop off. Please let me know ahead of time if you have any special request and I will do my best to accommodate if given notice ahead of time. Car is 4x4/AWD, so you won’t have issues if needed in snow. Car is expected to be ran through a wash, vacuumed, and in the same clean condition the guest received it in. One day rentals: we do not deliver for one day rentals. You will need to take an uber or Lyft to and from the car for your one day rental. We are a 15 min drive away from the airport. NO SMOKING (tobacco, marijuana, etc.),

I had hoped that the outcome of this trip would be better. Communication with the host was good albeit somewhat last minute (difficult when traveling). Pick up location was nice, organized, and friendly. However, upon pick up, the car had an unseemly rusted (indicating it's been there for a while) dent in the rear bumper that was not shown in the pictures. The inside was ok, a bit beat up. Driving the car was a bit clunky and awkward. Knowing the vehicle was not new, I accepted this as mere cosmetic damage. Being my first time using Turo, I assumed the car was safe to drive. I thought the car was just a bit old and did not realize the severity of the mechanical issues it had. We took it to a family occasion not too far from Denver. Throughout the weekend, the brakes got very soft and the tires lost pressure. After a harrowing ride using low gears (because the brakes were so soft) through mountain highway hairpin turns the night before we were scheduled to return the car, we woke up to catch an early flight and found the brakes had given out completely. We had to make other arrangements to get to the airport on time, and I spent several hours on the phone contacting turo, roadside assistance, and the host due to the fact that the car was so undriveable we couldn't complete the short drive to complete the return. I can't believe the level of risk my family was put in. A vehicle with brakes that are about to fail should never be on the road, let alone curvy mountain highways. Turo and the host have apologized for the "inconvenience" but it this was more than that--downright dangerous and frightening. The host has said that the problem will be addressed. I've requested a refund, which hasn't been addressed and only received a small credit from Turo towards a future use. I wish both the host and Turo success, but after this experience, I'm not sure I'll do either again.

Brian's response

Jeanne - I appreciate your feedback. As mentioned, the bumper is on backorder, just as most parts are at the moment, as a result of covid slowing manufacturing. As for the brakes, when we pulled the tire, the brake calipers had been broken-off, suggesting something hit VERY hard. It sounds like you picked up something on the road. On your trip, you used over 300 miles without any issues. Nonetheless, the brake shop went through everything. $751 replacement of the broken caliper. ALL is working

While the owners were great with communication, the rental car was disappointing and not what we expected. We had the following issues: the car was clearly in an accident and the bumper was smashed in, we had to fill the tire pressure twice in 3 days, the brakes need replacing and the shocks are terrible. We thankfully had no issues, but we were worried during our rental while navigating up in the mountains. I would not rent this car again through Turo.

Brian's response

Sheryl, thank you for the feedback. You are right, the car was in a fender bender. The bumper is on back order due to covid slowing orders. The rear bumper doesn’t change the performance of the car, and we wanted to keep the car on the road for others to use. We keep this car reasonably price based on its condition. As for the suspension, these cars ride rough, because they are all-terrain vehicles. Additionally, the brakes replaced just under six months ago. Again, thanks for the feedback.

Vehicle worked great for our foray into national parks and into the mountains. Check in was smooth. You take a shuttle to the car and then use a code to get the key out of a lockbox. Check out was the same. We did have a little trouble with the back tires losing air pressure over the course of a couple days. We had to top them off a few times. Brian said he would take care of it, so I’m confident it won’t be a problem when you rent it. ;) Would rent again.
