Faqs

  • Why isn't the car battery completely full when I pick up the car?

Tesla recommends that you keep the battery between 20-80% for regular daily use. Charging above 80% is possible, but they do not recommend letting the battery sit at a 100% charge, because it stresses the battery and shortens the overal life of the battery. Unless the renter notifies us ahead of time we set the limit on the battery charge to 80%. If you plan on going on a long trip right when you pick the car up we can completely charge the car beyond 80% upon request.

  • Is your car self-driving?

Our Tesla does have the autopilot feature that Tesla offers. However, this is not a "self-driving" feature, and you do still need to be prepared to takeover at any time. However, it is an amazingly useful feature for longtrips or highway driving. Autopilot keeps you in the lane, makes turns, and adjusts the speed based on traffic. It will also bring the car to a complete stop if traffic comes to a standstill. Autopilot cannot detect traffic lights or stop signs, so you must be prepared to takeover when you approach intersections.

  • Does your Tesla have Autopilot?

Yes. We paid for the upgrade package which includes Autopilot. This is not a "self-driving" feature, and you do still need to be prepared to takeover at any time. However, it is an amazingly useful feature for long trips or highway driving. Autopilot keeps you in the lane, makes turns, and adjusts the speed based on traffic. It will also bring the car to a complete stop if traffic comes to a standstill. • Can I park my car on your street?

Yes, there are no parking restrictions on my street so you can leave it here for the entire length of your reservation.

  • How do I drive the Model Y?

    How To Guide: https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEox0nUMFPF7ZaNZvUa8h65wEBSGtUgmw

  • How do I charge your car?

The easiest and fastest way to charge is through Tesla superchargers. Charging fees of $0.26/kwh apply which comes out to roughly $20 for a full charge. Idle fees apply as well at $0.40/min (if you don't move the car after fully charging). You can also charge the car through various charging stations across the city as well (some charge a fee while others are free). The Model 3 comes with an adapter to charge at most of these stations. You can also charge on an electrical outlets (both 110v and 220v).

  • Are you flexible with extra mileage?

Yes. Depending on where you are going we are open to discussing mileage costs.

Car worked great. It took me a little time to adjust to the differences between other cars and a Tesla, like the regenerative braking, always instant acceleration, and "transmission" changes where my windshield wipers stick usually is located. Once I made the change, it was great! Chris was very responsive and answered my questions quickly.

Great car and host - immaculately clean and not a scratch. Chris is very easy to work with and accommodating. (Drivers: helpful if you have driven a Tesla before, otherwise spend a few minutes in advance watching the basic YouTube video on 4 to 5 unique attributes.).

Chris's response

Vance, really great feedback. Because of your review I went in and added some additional links and tutorials for first time Tesla drivers. They are really fun cars, but there definitely are some unique quirks and what not that require 5-10 minutes of education/learning. Thanks and I’m glad you enjoyed your trip!

When I picked up the Model Y, Chris was really helpful and walked me through all of cool features of his specific model. Full self driving (FSD), three row seating, and more. I would recommend getting this Model Y and working with Chris.

Chris's response

Thanks Petr for the feedback! I always love getting a chance to talk Tesla! Im really glad that the trip to Seattle and back worked out well for you. Sorry my car was already rented the last weekend of July! Next time!

Chris’ Model Y is awesome. We had a great family trip to Spokane and this Tesla made it extra special. Chris made the whole process super easy. Thank you Chris.

Chris's response

Dale, thanks for the great trip! Also, excited that you got to test out and use the 3rd row! You were the first renter to utilize all 7 seats! I appreciate you taking the time to charge up the car and return it in great clean condition.

We had a great weekend in the Model Y! It was fun for a short trip and fit all of the people and bags that we needed it to. My only complaint was the battery life and charging. The projected range was not a true reflection of the distance we were able to cover. Granted, it was a very hot weekend and we were using A/C and navigation nearly constantly, which I assume would drain the battery faster than normal. We had to make two stops at the supercharging station to recharge (once fully and once only partially) during our weekend rental. It took a solid 45 minutes to charge each time, which is a considerable amount of time to factor into a schedule for a “refueling” stop. Definitely not as convenient as pulling into any given gas station, but if you monitor your battery and plan wisely, it’s a fair trade off. I would recommend to anyone looking to try out an electric vehicle and get the true Tesla experience!

Chris's response

Courtney, great feedback! The rated-range vs actual range is the most frustrating thing. Rated-range provided by Tesla is assuming “perfect conditions.” Obviously this rarely happens, so on days like when you rented it when it was in the high 90s the battery is used to keep the battery pack (and the cabin) at ideal temperature. The ideal experience of the Tesla is being able to charge it at your destination (typically overnight), this allows you to almost forget about charging completely!
