This trip started great with the reservation process and open communication. However, it took a turn for the worse when I was advised the day before my trip of a new vehicle pickup location that was 35 minutes from the airport, as opposed to 5 minutes from the airport as reserved. At this point the “host” informed me they are in fact a management company the host hired and moved the location of the vehicle. Henceforth it was clear this was business and not a p2p experience. They did offer me a refund for the difference in cost of the Rideshare between the booked pickup location and the new location; however, I have yet to see that refund. They claim it has already been processed and is delayed by my “bank.” I’ll cut to the chase: I was unaware of Turos full policies, otherwise I would have refused to pickup this vehicle. It smelled like smoke(I never told the host until afterwards because I just figured we had to suck it up, when in fact I could have refused pickup), it had a bad vibration (immediately reported to host). Mid trip I checked the transmission fluid due to being a diy guy, it was low 3/4 quart. The kicker is at return, I observed dangerously bald rear tires, one was down to the internal tire material. I immediately reported it to the host. I am now leaving this review on the last day I am allowed to because I waited for the partial refund which never came, and am now completely unsatisfied with this rental experience. The host acknowledges the unsafe vehicle conditions and messaged me it has been in service since 7/18, yet they refuse to refund me more than just the previously agreed Rideshare fee, due to me not reporting the unsafe condition or being unhappy with the vehicle until after the rental period, despite not finding the unsafe tire condition until the return process, which I immediately notified them of. I wish they would have refunded me more of my rental fee due to the unsafe vehicle conditions my family was exposed to, and I would have been able to give a better review for great customer service. However, they keep pointing out I drove hundreds of miles (I drove 786 of the 3500 allowed), and they seem caught up on the point out I drove out of state, despite Turo policy is “In the US, guests may drive a vehicle across state lines into other US states.”
