The 2017 Cadillac XT5 is a new crossover in Cadillac's lineup, replacing the second-generation Cadillac SRX. The 2017 Cadillac XT5 luxury crossover features front- and all-wheel drive configurations, a powerful V-6 engine, and an updated version of Cadillac Cue infotainment system. Cadillac offers the all-new XT5 luxury crossover in four trim levels including the base XT5, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum models. Power comes from of a 3.6-liter V-6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that delivers 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. EPA-rated fuel economy is 19/27 mpg city/highway with front-wheel drive and 18/26 mpg with all-wheel drive. Towing capacity is a maximum of 3,500 pounds, and rear-seat legroom has improved by 3.2 inches compared to the SRX. The updated Cadillac Cue system features a faster, more powerful processor, an integrated wireless charger for mobile devices, and will continue to feature 4G wireless connectivity with standard integrated 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The XT5 will also offer a hands-free power liftgate, optional color reconfigurable head-up display. Thanks to the increased dimensions, interior space has been increased when compared to the SRX, with more rear legroom for passengers. The Cadillac XT5 will now be offered in a Platinum trim for the first time, featuring a unique interior and exterior trim, more technology, and more standard features when compared to the other models in the XT5 lineup, and only with all-wheel drive. Safety The 2017 Cadillac XT5 AWD received the highest overall safety rating from the NHTSA (five stars), but the XT5 with front-wheel drive received a four-star overall rating. The XT5 was considered a 2017 Top Safety Pick because it received the highest score of Good in all crash evaluations (small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats) and the highest rating of Superior for front crash prevention. The highest rating was issued because the XT5 was able to avoid a 12 mph collision and reduced the impact of a 25 mph collision by 24 mph thanks to the Front Automatic Braking feature. Cadillac's rear camera mirror system made its official debut on the XT5, enhancing the driver's rear vision by showing an unobstructed digital view if rear-seat passengers or cargo are in rear sightlines. The system could prove helpful when your vision is obstructed by rear passengers, but might seem disconcerting at first. The XT5 will also feature the optional Driver Awareness and Driver Assist packages that add automatic front and rear braking in low-speed conditions, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, side blind zone alert, full-speed range adaptive cruise control, and automatic park assist.
